We stayed two nights for just a quick getaway from our busy lives. The cabin was clean, properly equipped everything you would need and beautifully decorated. They even had a Christmas tree and decorations for us to feel the holiday season. Our bonus surprise was Miss Marina, the outside family cat. With us already missing our kitties at home, this was a very comforting surprise. She was super friendly and affectionate and made our stay even better!
Michelle and George were wonderful hosts and the cabin is gorgeous. We had a great time and would recommend staying here to everyone looking for peace and quiet!
Incredibly relaxing stay. The house had everything you need to relax. My husband fished in the Okefenokee Swamp while my pup and I relaxed. Would recommend!! Record player was a hit, host has great taste
We absolutely loved the cabin and property! It was the perfect getaway with our dog to relax and unwind. The cabin had everything we needed, and the fire pit and yard was so much fun! The boardwalk was really neat, but we were disappointed there wasn’t anywhere to set up chairs by the river. Would definitely recommend this cabin to anyone looking for a remote getaway location!
We so enjoyed our stay and this was the perfect get away! We felt away from everything and the main area being on the second floor, gave such a wonderful view. First class boardwalk on the property taking you to the river, was just wonderful. We spent time on the property, as well as, easy trips to Jekyll Island and found a trail in Woodbine. We will be back to explore the river more by kayak and the next time we need to regroup with a heavy dose of nature!
Larry and I were participating in the Georgia River Network's Spring on the Satilla 2 day kayaking adventure and didn't want to tent camp - the guest house was such a perfect, restful place for us to lay our heads at the end of a long day on the water. Thank you so much for the detailed directions (follow those, folks) and the lovely lodging. We'll be back!
We loved the cabin. Walked to the lake on the first day and was surprised that the walkway just ended in the weeds with no dock or cleared bank. Maybe there was another path we didn't see. Was not a big deal. We ended up spending our time in the cabin and exploring the surrounding communities. Overall great experience and would reccommend this property.
I spent a month at the retreat, and it was perfect. Shelby and George are great hosts and helped us kayaking a couple of times. The cabin has everything you need, and it's quiet and comfortable. I brought my dog, and she loved chasing the rabbits and deer (never gets close..). We took several walks on the road and down to the river. Thank you Shelby and George! I will be back.
Michelle is a great host who interacts with you as much as you want. The property is easy to find and as described in the posting. Our 2 dogs enjoyed their walks through the surrounding area as did we.
Although more remote than I thought, it was an easy drive to get to Jekyll and St Simons islands.
My wife and I stayed at this property for her birthday. After promising to take her to Okefenokee Swamp for 10+ years, we finally made the trip. It was the first time we had spent the night away from home since February 2020. We wanted a place that going to be quiet and secluded and away from people. We absolutely fell in love with the property. It ended up being the best trip that my wife and I have ever taken together. Cannot say enough positive things about the property and the owners. They were fantastic hosts. And we loved being there!
My husband and I love the place, the cabin is super cozy, there is an immense Peace in the Place, we spent an incredible Christmas.
Our Baby Dog loved it too.
The view and the lake are incredible, very beautiful. Every afternoon we see the Deer and Turkeys grazing in the yard.
We had an amazing trip. Brought 3 kids, 11 yrs, 9yrs and 18 months. They loved exploring the woods and making fires in the fire pits. Owners were amazing and even though on the same property they only came around the first day and took us on an ATV ride to show us the property and horses. The cabin was better stocked them most big houses we have rented. We felt right at home instantly.
