Penn Wells Historic Hotel

"The hotel is a great blend of old charm with modern convenience. It is not a modern hotel with a fitness center etc. What it is is a really cool old hotel with just the needed amount of modern amenities. The staff at the desk, especially the afternoon guy, was friendly and helpful. He even made dinner reservations for us for our anniversary at a local restaurant. The place is clean and quiet. The complimentary breakfast was ok with a decent selection although it seems to be the same every day so if we had been there more than 2 nights we would have tried the Wellsboro diner for something different. The hotel is located within easy walking distance of great shops and restaurants. The only fly in the ointment was at breakfast the second morning of our stay. Guests had to keep asking for things like napkins and food items that hadn’t been replenished. Things like that happen but the attendant that day was about as friendly as a bear with a sore butt. Overall though the hotel was a nice experience and we would stay there again."

"We enjoyed our stay. It was our anniversary trip. We stayed in the romantic getaway. I didn't receive the check in instructions, so I messaged the owner and got an immediate response. He was very helpful and was there upon arrival. He mentioned about a kitchen in our room but there wasnt. It was very quiet, you could hear everything. I dont think i would recommend for a younger crowd. As far as it being the "romantic getaway", there was no way we could get really intimate. The closed in porch wouldve been great for cuddling on the couch and watch the sunset, but the legs were put on backwards on the couch, and wouldnt have held us. We notified the owner so he was aware and said he would be there in 45 minutes to check it out and offered us a chair in the meantime from the common area. We looked foward to him looking into it but that time never came. So we couldnt enjoy that part like we wanted. We loved the bed and pillows and sheets so much, we ordered the same pillows and bedsheets. We made a snack in the oven but there were no hot pads. But everything was great. The rooms were clean and the view was great with an excavator outside the windows. Saw a few deer. There was a slight odor upon walking in. Almost like it used to be a nursing home and a strong mildew smell in the downstairs. I don't want to sound negative. Just trying to leave an honest review. Like I said, it was clean, great location, very quiet"

"The lodge was perfect for a family gathering weekend! The landscape surrounding it is so beautiful and peaceful. So much space for cooking, playing games, hanging out. Just an amazing house with happy vibes. We loved it. Thank you!"

"We had a great time at the Octagon! Everything was very clean and well maintained, and the game room was a lot of fun. We were in town for a gravel biking event, and this was the perfect place for our group. We would definitely stay here again!"
