"We were warmly welcomed by staff at the Black Bull and were impressed with the size and comfort of the room (14). The bar was busy with locals and tourists. No food is served on Wednesdays so we ate at The Milan which was excellent. Room was quiet despite the popular open mic night in the bar. "Check in went OK. The location is really nice, rural and peaceful but not as quiet as it seems. More traffic than you think but it’s still peaceful and a nice location. Staff a mix of friendly and some not so friendly or welcoming. We ate dinner in the bar - food was good and tasty, although very expensive. "Staff were really friendly but there was no property owned parking so had to park across the road in a public car park. The bed was large and comfortable with good quality linen. We were given a special access room on the ground floor but we were looking forward to a bath in the room which is what I thought we had booked but not a major issue but if you are booking you may want to make them aware if you want a bath rather than wet room. "

"A lovely friendly and welcoming place. Our room had a great fresh and clean smell as we entered and when I requested extra little milk cartons I was asked if I preferred fresh milk - oh yes. The beds were very comfy. Just what we needed. A table was reserved for our evening meal and it didn't disappoint. I hadn't expected the possibility of a roast Sunday dinner on the evening, and it was amazing, delicious and I didn't leave a scrap. My hubby was just as thrilled with his steak and ale pie....

"We had a really excellent 5 day stay. Our room (3) was huge with 2 kingsize beds and a large sofa. Bathroom was also a good size. The breakfast was good with excellent friendly, prompt service. A really good location for visiting the area and not too busy. Parking was never a problem. It would have been useful to have some plug-in bed side lights rather than battery operated nightlights. "All the staff at the Anglers Arms were lovely, they couldn’t do enough for you. All the food we had (3 breakfasts &. 1 dinner) was very good. The hotel is in need of some modernisation but we know that Joanne and the team are working on this, given a little time they will get everything right but in the meantime it is still a good place to stay and excellent value."
