Spending an entire weekend in Brainard Lake Recreational Area would be easy! There are many picnic areas and a plethora of hiking trails, two of which lead to lakes higher up the mountainside. You can fish and canoe on the lakes. Nearby Ward, Colorado, offers overnight accommodations, restaurants and bars - if you are looking for night life! Camping facilities abound in the area. "1st VRBO experience. Everything was great except for the very steep stairs up to the carriage house. Not good for the mobility-challenged which we both are. Loved the many windows in the unit and the breezes coming through made sleeping enjoyable. "
