This was a beautiful, quiet and serene setting as a stop over on our way to our son’s graduation in Lynchburg. Brenda and Kevin were very accommodating and kind. The place was so quaint and full of character! Loved our room and the bed was so comfy!
A great place for some peace and quiet. Only 30 minutes away from some interesting towns, if you really must be on the go.
Excellent service and attention from the hosts.
Very good chef.
I am planning to get back there again.
I did enjoy my stay here. If you can find it in your heart to overlook the very scary driveway that gets you to the property, you will enjoy it, too. The room was clean. The owners were nice. It is a very relaxing place to spend the night. You have to enjoy the rustic setting, though: squeaky wood floors and the old cabin smell. Also, no TV or WiFi. I would go back again, though.
I loved being surrounded by beauty. I loved the lodge feel and our spacious bedroom. The owners were wonderful. The breakfasts were good. I would’ve loved to stay longer. It would be a great Fall vacation
Our stay at the Sugar Tree Inn was amazing! The food was great and we loved the cabin accommodations. Kevin and Brenda were very hospitable and the setting in the mountains is beautiful. I would highly recommend the Sugar Tree Inn!
We had a great time. The owners of the inn were really friendly. The evening meal was very good. If you like to stay in a nature setting near a lot of outdoor events. This is the place.
My wife and I had a wonderful experience at the Sugar Tree Inn! We were celebrating our 41st wedding anniversary and enjoyed exploring Lexington, Staunton and Crabtree Falls! The breakfasts were fantastic and the staff so friendly. We will definitely consider returning!
This hotel is located in the middle of the mountains with great views, clean rooms, and good food at the restaurant. It's a great "un-plug" place, no TV or wifi.
A wonderful ski lodge /country manor vibe in the woods between the Blue Ridge Parkway and the interstate -- yet in a world of its own. New management and upcoming and ongoing upgrades, but it is already a very special place to enjoy the mountains. Great breakfast but check on other meals -- lunch/dinner not available every day.
The room we stayed in was fantastic. Very comfortable and well appointed.
Yes, the driveway is a bit tricky, and I wouldn't want to drive it in the winter, but it wasn't THAT bad.
It has excellent access to the Blue Ridge Parkway, which was our #1 reason for choosing the inn, but now we will return just because it is so nice : )
Bring your own WiFi hotspot!
Kevin and Chef Gerry were excellent host, from the moment we pulled into the drive way until we left to go home. The St. Mary's Cabin was the perfect room for my granddaughter and me. Clean, comfortable, charming and a great view. Dinner and breakfast were outstanding and they both went out of their way to make out meals great and enjoyable. Great time was had by all! We will be back! Thank for the great weekend!
This was a getaway for my wife and I and it was absolutely perfect. We stayed in St. Mary’s cabin and it was everything we could have asked for. Kevin and Brenda were great hosts. Breakfast was great, very balanced and didn’t make us feel bloated. We had dinner there one night and it was good.
They were well stocked on all different types of drinks, but the cold brew, which is free, was my wife’s favorite. There is not Wi-Fi, which is what we wanted, but we had cell service in case of an emergency. Overall, great place to stay, great hosts and great views.
The stay was nice. However, I booked this mountain stay because they listed fireplaces and had Wi-Fi. Their fireplaces are not functional and the do not have Wi-Fi. i would not have stayed here if I had known these things. I am disappointed that your website did not have up to date information about this hotel.
It's not really the owner's fault at all but the place is built on a rather treacherous bit of mountainside in the Shenandoah. The website doesn't really give much warning about this and there isn't any sort of guardrails. There is a hell of a 'pucker factor' getting to and from the location as it's just one lane. But once you get there- My GOSH! So beautiful-- so inviting.. and so, so so sooo cozy! Makes it all worthwhile!! As I said before, unless a millionaire wants to donate $$$$$$ for them to build a two lane bridge connecting the property to the hardball, not too much to be done!!
My wife and I stayed in the Crab Tree Falls room in the main cabin. The place was really nice and cozy. Every night the Owner turned on the main fire place and we could sit in front of the fire. The kitchen was convenient for us to get coffee in the morning and also get other drinks and snacks at our leisure. They cook breakfast every day and it was very tasty. Dinner is optional at a cost on the weekends, and we had other plans so we never did get to try the dinner. Other guests said the dinners were amazing though. The Owner's were very nice and seemed to be there without being there too much. The driveway is steep so be prepared! We were only a few minutes away from the Crab Tree Falls hike along the waterfalls so we did that one day. Also, it is very close to the Blue Ridge Parkway. There are no TVs. At first we weren't sure about this, but actually came to like it very quickly. We loved this place and will definitely be back again.
