Good morning! If you have arrived here, it means that you are interested in getting to know us and our home. Well, this house is the representation of how, for us, traditions and family values are fundamental. Our family is made up of Umberto (head of the family), Filippa, for friends Fina (Umberto's wife), Rosanna and Patrick (sons of Umberto and Fina) and Giorgio (companion of Rosanna, as well as son-in-law of Umberto and Fina and brother-in-law of Patrick). We are a humble family, founded on the true values of life: sincerity, trust and transparency. These are the values that we like to share with friends, relatives and pass on to our guests. Umberto, the head of the family, is a superior inspector of the State Police, now retired, who has lived in the house where you are with his father Luigi (former carabiniere of the weapon) for decades. Previously, grandfather Luigi had lived with his mother and father, Michelangelo, better known in the village as "patron Peppe'Ntoni", a person highly respected and well-liked by all for his kindness and determination.
He was the landowner of 60,000 tomoli (find out how much square meters are ), thanks to which he collected the fruits given by the earth and gave work to many local people and beyond. In fact, this house has been handed down for many generations, from father to son, for over 150 years. It was used in the past years by our ancestors to live all together and each room contains a story to tell. Umberto, after growing up in Vernole (to the sound of pranks), met Fina, at the beginning of his career in the city of Turin, who after a long courtship and engagement then married right here, in Vernole. They then gave birth to two children, Rosanna and Patrick, in the following years. Fina, Sicilian origins (Salemi), to follow her love Umberto left his life in Sicily to arrive first in Piedmont and then in Puglia. She worked in a nursery school as a teacher, in fact she loves children; she too, now retired, dedicates herself to creative activities, to the preparation of Donna Filippa's "super orecchiette" and to the care of the home and family.
Vernole is a very active country, even in winter, located in a strategic position that allows you to enjoy city life, the relaxation of the countryside and the coolness of the Adriatic sea. In Vernole you can still admire a series of ancient places used in ancient times for the transformation of agricultural products such as, for example, the underground oil mills for the production of oil, visible in Piazza Vittorio Veneto. In addition, menhirs, specchie and straw chasers (called "payare", similar to the Trulli but with different uses) were found in the area. We invite you to take a nice walk in the village, leaving the gate turn right. Continuing along the road, at 200 meters you will find the main church, continuing for another 200 meters you will be in the square, still alive in the evening, with the children playing ball and the old people who chat about more and less.
