Niggles:
The kitchen bin was broken, the blind in the toilet was missing, parking could be challenging and no guidance was given on which car parks to use. We appreciate this is a shared building, but the upstairs occupant was given to continuous loud humming: might not bother some, but it was intrusive. Internet access felt as if it was time limited - disappeared first thing in the day, but reappeared around 9am. Otherwise it was fine.
Positives:
The location for a seaside holiday is fantastic. Walk down to the front and turn left (with some local advice) and you have a wonderful breakwater walk, and an opportunity to get a full English at Besty and Spinky's cafe on your return (or before), turn right and you have the full English seaside experience all the way to the Spyglass.
Lots of excellent places to eat: TripAdvisor seems *mostly* reliable on Ventnor. Definitely worth a drive to The Best Dressed Crab - but best to book ahead.
The flat is comfortable, and eating breakfast by the living room window looking out to sea is very pleasant. It worked well for two people and a cockapoo. Leaving the building, if you turn left there's a green with poo bins at the top of the slope down to the breakwater.
Even in May some shops were closed, but obviously preparing for the season. The Coop is a two minute walk, Tesco maybe 6 or 7.
Honourable mentions have to go to Shannon at Island Holidays, who was incredibly helpful, and Rob at Island Holidays who dropped everything on a Sunday to sort a spare key for the flat after we had lost the main key. We then found it, but he was on the case immediately. Note to self: do not take flat key on trips - leave it in the keysafe.
On the whole, this is a comfortable base in a lovely seaside town from which to visit all the IOW usual suspects; the location is excellent, bring binoculars to get the best of the views. If you're not neurotic about noise, you'll be fine.
