"For a 2-star property, I give B&B Hotel Verdun 5 stars. It is a basic hotel, but a good stop for seeing the area, the battlefields and forts. The staff is very nice. FYI, there are stairs, no elevator. The rooms are not large, but they work for a 1-night stay. Breakfast was pastries, granola, yogurt, beans, mushrooms, toast. Juice, coffee, etc. Definitely good for a quick breakfast. This hotel is outside of the city center, but it does have several restaurants in walking distance. We walked right next door to the Buffalo Grill for dinner, and were very pleasantly surprised. We are Americans, and it was our first time eating "American food"in Europe. It gave us a good laugh, we had a great dinner, and it was nice to have this option so close to the hotel. "

"Superb chateau, ok breakfast could have had a cooked option (like scrambled eggs), lovely location for the view and peacefulness. We had the tower room which was lovely, lush sitting outside looking at the views or at the chateau. Fine dining but im a bit fussy with my food. "

"Very basic...why it is Budget. its a room with a shower stall and a WC. The small sink is in the bedroom. Bed was good and slept well."

"This was a very large and nice room with a washing machine, at a very reasonable price. The hosts were very gracious and friendly despite the fact that we did not speak French and they did not speak English. It is located in a small village so it is very quite at night and you can get a good night sleep without any road noise. The room in was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. The breakfast offered I’m was simple - coffee, juice, bread, croissants, and homemade jams (which were wonderful), but we knew this in advance. The coffee was very good!"

"We really enjoyed our stay at this lovely family home, there was plenty of space and lots of outdoor activities. We really liked the pool however it isn’t fenced which would have been good to know in advance. There is a local vineyard, restaurant and a supermarket nearby. We would definitely recommend this large house to other groups wanting a quiet getaway. The hosts were extremely helpful and offered to help with anything we needed."

"We arrived expecting to learn more about the Great War but left having experienced so much more. Great area of beauty and historical interest. Our host was very helpful and provided us with a taste of the regional cuisine and hospitality that was above all expectations. The gite was full of character and the location very quiet and friendly. A great time was had."
