"Oh my God, I am obsessed with the Ryokusuitei! I could not believe such a place existed. Throughout our stay, we felt treated as royalty. The service❤️ Oh, I miss all the hard-working ladies and gentlemen at this hotel - they were so good to us ❤️ The food, the FOOD was so amazing ❤️ The evening kaiseki shabu-shabu, as well as the sprawling Japanese-style breakfast (be aware this is a Japanese breakfast buffet, not an international one, so if you don't like fish or pickles - that's on you). The private onsen on the balcony, with a view of the lake! I could cry just thinking about it. The water was lightly scented 🌺 The hotel is well worth the price, when you are basically getting the royal experience for a short little while. They also have a free shuttle that will pick you up at the nearest train station, which is easily accessible both from Osaka station and from Kyoto. Overall 10/10 highly recommend!"

We were picked up at the train station and ushured into a relaxing lounge which we had unlimited access to for the duration of our stay, including the drinks and snacks, The check in process was very smooth and our bags were waiting for us in our room when we got there. We booked the in-room Onsen that we practically lived in. It was initially a bit hot for our liking but the staff were able to adjust it for us. We had an amazing nine course dinner that showcased the local produce. and the breakfast buffet was also briliant. Overall a very relaxing and comfortable stay with fantastic staff and would definitely come back."

"room fine bathroom a bit dated as is the rest of the hotel. overall good location right on lake all rooms have view of lake pool is free for resident but very over clorinated which gave us all bad rashes. so only used once which was a sham as reason we stayed there. station close and hotel has shuttle bus to station 3 times an hour which was good over all hotel ok probably not to my taste but very popular with locals we were only english there and a good place to stay away from hustle and bustle of kyoto but easy access as only two stops on train. stayed there 20 years ago and it hadn’t changed since then"

They are clean, convenient, and affordable, and they tend to have lots of useful amenities or people who might have forgotten to bring something like a toothbrush or razor. Miidera (三井寺) and Lake Biwa (琵琶湖) are also manageable walks. Otsu is a lovely and underrated city, and this hotel is in a really nice part of the city."
