This abandoned train depot was constructed by the State of Georgia in 1848, and is one of the oldest in Georgia. The depot witnessed many important events during the Civil War; a speech by Confederate President Jefferson Davis in 1861; the Great Locomotive Chase of 1862; a Civil War battle; and the first headquarters of General William T. Sherman during his Atlanta Campaign.

"My family and I enjoyed our weekend stay at this lovely farmhouse. It was well equipped, spacious, clean, and very welcoming/cozy! Lori was really quick to respond which I appreciated. Only reason I didn’t give it a 5 is because there were a few unexpected things missing from the description/host information: 1) the wood stove wasn’t actually for use which was a bummer since it was shown in pictures and was a deciding factor for us between a couple stays, 2) a couple of men came to the house to...

"The hotel is close to downtown, but not so close you experience the noise and congestion, and feels secluded. It is next to the river and a green way and a short walk to the riverfront area (aquarium etc .. ). The indoor pool is small but heated, and there is a hot tub. Self parking is $18. The free breakfast is standard for hotels: eggs, sausage, biscuits, fruit, gravy, muffins, etc ..."
