"We had the pleasure of staying at Raiatea Lodge Hotel during the second leg of our honeymoon, and it was everything we could have hoped for—a peaceful retreat after spending time on larger, more touristic islands. The hotel is set on picturesque plantation-like grounds that instantly evoke relaxation. The lush greenery and tranquil surroundings made it feel like a hidden gem in the heart of French Polynesia. The fusion of Polynesian and French influences in both the cuisine and entertainment was a standout. Every meal was an experience, combining local flavors with French culinary elegance, and the live entertainment added to the authentic yet sophisticated atmosphere. One of the most unforgettable parts of our stay was the incredible sunsets. They set perfectly to the west of the hotel, painting the sky in hues of gold, pink, and violet—some of the best sunsets we’ve ever seen! Watching them from the lodge was pure magic. If you’re looking for a quieter side of the Tahitian islands, Raiatea Lodge is the perfect choice. It’s far less touristic than some of the bigger islands, yet offers all the amenities of a top resort. The staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome without making us feel isolated from the island experience. It’s a place where you can unwind and truly enjoy the natural beauty of Raiatea. Highly recommended for those who seek tranquility, comfort, and a taste of island life with a refined touch."

"We spent two nights at Hilda and Olivier’s lovely B&B+ as a transition between Maupiti and Taha’a. The bungalow is built and decorated with focus on quality, beauty, and locale. At every turn I saw patience, craftsmanship, and concern for the environment. The bungalows are made to last! The interior is modern in design and amenities. The bedding is of high quality and very comfortable. Ceiling fan plus A/C plus mosquito screens in all windows plus shutters make adjusting to temperature changes easy. I especially noted the lovely cool-ish breeze off the mountains coming through during the night. Are there mosquitos and ants? Of course there are, it’s the tropics. And we weren’t bothered at all. Hilda is a star-quality chef, and the three-course dinners that Olivier delivers to the bungalow are a celebration for the eye and palate. The breakfast, also delivered to the bungalow, is plentiful and includes homemade jams and homegrown fruit. Good coffee, too. I did swim in the salt water pool, and it is long enough for five strokes. While not enough for a workout, it’s lovely for cooling off. Hilda and Olivier go out of their way to be helpful, professional, and friendly. Responses to my emails were prompt. We would stay at Vare Vavae again and recommend it."

"We stayed three nights at Ocean Front Bungalow, and it was a perfect place to relax - beautiful views of Bora Bora and of the surf in the distance, amazing sunsets and very quiet. The bungalow was clean, bedding of good quality and very comfortable, plenty of towels, coffee and a cute outdoor shower. The owner was very responsive and helpful. Yes, there are mosquitoes (like everywhere in French Polynesia), and we managed to keep them out of the room by keeping the doors to the deck closed. There is a fan/AC unit in the room which helped to keep evening temps comfortable. The lagoon in front of the bungalow is quite shallow and not ideal for snorkeling, but it was fun to kayak. You could also see a lot of fish and stingrays right from the deck. This is a great deal for a couple that is looking for a quiet, beautiful place that is a short drive from restaurants and town. We loved our stay."
