Parkhotel Pörtschach - Das Hotelresort mit Insellage am Wörthersee

"The hotel sits right on the beautiful resort promenade of Pörtschach. Clients have the privilege to have easy access to stroll around the lake with beautiful gardens and turquoise waters. Breakfast buffet was delicious with a great variety of everything that one can think of for breakfast. Room was clean with nice view and private balcony. Staff were super friendly and helpful including restaurant staff who offered first class service throughout our evening meals and breakfast."

"We had a wonderful stay. The location was perfect, easy walking distance from the centre, shops and restaurants. Breakfast was excellent with lots of choices. I find it weird to have 2 single beds put together to create a larger bed as you tend to slip down between the 2 mattresses, other than that the room was nice, tidy and good enough to have a good night sleep. We’d definitely stay at Alpina again"

"We had a Mountain View balcony room as there were no lake view balcony rooms available as we booked last minute. We did say we wished we had gone for a lake view room with no balcony but to be honest we barely spent any time in the room and could easily sit out by the lake in the garden and on the terrace. Yes, there is a train station directly out the back of the hotel (most significant for those rooms with a Mountain View) but they do not run all night and really didn’t disturb us. Also very easy and cheap (compared to UK!) to hop on the train to get into Villach for example. Others said rooms were dated - I think it’s just the mountain lodge style - we found everything to be clean and functional with the stay being good value for money. Decent breakfast spread each day and staff were all friendly. Bikes are available to hire free of charge. It’s worth noting that at this time of year the sun disappears from the garden area by about 3.40/4pm but we weren’t exactly there to sunbathe! Parking is in a car park secured by a barrier with a code, although not well signposted when you first arrive! You have to go to check in to get the code for the car park. If you have a car the location is great to get onto the Autobahn, easy to access Slovenia and Italy too. It’s a shame they don’t do an evening meal or open the bar at this time of year but overall a really enjoyable stay and would go back."
