In Grange Wood This hilly piece of woodland alongside the Nottingham Canal route is too much of a temptation for the local bikers. The undergrowth has been worn away by numerous pairs of tyres.

Footpath along the Nottingham Canal Nature Reserve. Note how high the canal route is compared to the roofs of the houses on Haynes Avenue, Trowell. This canal follows the 60 metre contour from Wollaton in SK5039, round 804508 up to Awsworth in SK4743, often being quite a height above the adjacent land.
