The breakfast was good, the hotel is not in the city centre and the swim palace is not part of the hotel, maybe I read the info about the hotel in a wrong way, but for me it’s a typical conference hotel with small rooms.

The front desk staff was amazing - accommodated luggage storage and early check in, took the time to make individualized dinner recommendations, and provided access to the gym and sauna accross the way. We loved our stay at the Clarion Hotel Trondheim! It sits right on the harbor and was conveniently located near the Trondheim Central Station. Pros: - Trondheim is a very walkable city and the Clarion gave easy access to the downtown area through a few different routes. - It was less than a 10 minute walk (with 3 rolling bags) from the Central Station and then about a 10 minute walk to the Hurtigruten port. - Comfortable rooms: bed, refrigerator, air conditioning, and a little window that opened. - The breakfast buffet was the best that we experienced in all our hotel stays. It was pretty amazing. - Love, love, love that in all the hotels we stayed in in Norway we needed to put one of our key cards into a slot in our room to activate the electricity. Cons: None..... It was a great place to stay.

The bed was one of the best I've slept in - topper, linen, all great - and the complimentary coffee also really good (beats Nescafé, and I know it's a tiny detail, but in the depths of winter, it matters!). Breakfast was plentiful, and the Nør restaurant also great for a Christmas meal. The bar staff were also lovely. It was a shame there weren't more food options available over Christmas, but even so, I had a wonderful stay.

The hotel itself is beautiful, and the breakfast was very good with a nice selection. The location and facilities were also enjoyable. However, I was disappointed by the attitude of some staff members. When I checked in, my room was not ready as requested, so I waited in the lobby and walked around to look at the hotel. A male staff member suddenly asked if I was a guest. After I explained my room number, he went to speak with the front desk. When I asked the reception staff if I was not allowed to walk around the hotel while waiting, her response was not very friendly. I understand that staff need to ensure security, but the way guests are approached and communicated with is very important. As a paying guest, I expected a more welcoming and respectful attitude. It was a pity because the hotel itself is lovely, but the service experience affected my overall impression. Hopefully the management can improve staff training and guest communication.
