Three Bedroom Cottage on Long Lake
This is a beautiful three-bedroom cottage directly on Long Lake, one of Michigan's best lakes for fishing and boating.
Enjoy a private dock and swim in the crystal clear lake water. Use the mooring for your boat - there is a public launch just across the lake. There is a canoe for you to use. Long Lake has five islands that you can paddle to and explore. You can watch the sun set from the dock.
The house has three bedrooms (sleeps 6) and a common room with an open floor plan. There is an office and a deck that looks over the lake. The house has excellent wi-fi and a smart TV.
Summer Lark is a quiet house set back in the woods, but just 15 minutes from downtown Traverse City and all its activities. You can walk through the woods to the Timbers Recreation Area and enjoy lovely hikes. It is just a short drive to Interlochen, Leland and Sleeping Bear Dunes.
Main level: Master bedroom (queen bed), kitchen/dining/living room, office, full bathroom and deck.
Lower level: Second bedroom (queen bed) and third bedroom (three twin beds). Full bathroom.
We welcome pets, too.
Please note there are about five steps to get to the house, and then a longer set of steps to get down to the dock.

Great cabin in the woods by the lake. Close to town if you want to go. Close to Lake Michigan and dunes if you want to go. Well stocked. Easy to get to.

Loved it all! The property and location were exactly as described. The welcome note and bottle of local wine left for us was such a nice touch. We loved exploring the area & visiting different wineries. Our Maltese was welcome just about everywhere. We will be back.

This place was perfect for our family vacation. Wonderful communication from the property owners. Well stocked kitchen allowed us to cook many meals during our stay. Everything we needed nestled in the woods right by the lake. We had privacy and easy access to the water. It was located just far enough outside of the city to not deal with traffic, but close enough to everything that it was easy to get to where we needed to be. Would most definitely stay here again in the future.

So many favorite aspects to list: peaceful, rustling of the leaves in tall mature trees all around the property, crystal clear water of beautiful long lake, cozy nooks to curl up with a good book, board games, morning walks on private road through the woods, listening to the loons, moomers ice cream, 9 bean row baked goods from market, dinners on the deck……etc

This house is an amazing lake getaway! It truely feels like a home, not just a rental. The owners have put together a fantastic guidebook with detailed personal recommendations for local hiking, shopping, and dining, along with a history of the house. The lake is quiet and feels secluded even though there are other houses nearby. It has all the benefits of being close to town and all the peacefulness of a lake in the woods. We loved our stay.

This house was absolutely perfect for our annual summer family trip. It's the perfect mix of being secluded and private, yet close to all that Traverse City has to offer. The home is comfy and well laid out, fully stocked, and had plenty of space for the 4 of us and our 2 pups (love that it's dog friendly, too!) While there's not much of a yard (something to note if you have small kids, as we were a family of adults) we loved sitting on the deck as well as on the dock overlooking the lake. Tim was an amazing host who was very communicative and provided a ton of great info and recommendations about the surrounding area. Would absolutely rent again!

This cottage on Long Lake was perfect for our Memorial Day Weekend stay. Tim went above and beyond in terms of communication and care leading up to our arrival, providing thorough information on the rental and surrounding area. We loved reading about the cottage/area's history!
The home itself is in a terrific location, quietly situated on beautiful Long Lake. It had everything we needed, and was close enough to our favorite places in Traverse City and the surrounding areas.
If given the chance, we would love to return again for another stay. We wholeheartedly recommend this rental to anyone looking for a relaxing and enjoyable time in the Traverse City area!

We loved our stay at Summer Lark. The layout worked great for our family. The master is upstairs, two beds and a full bath downstairs. Dog friendly...I'm pretty sure our dogs would like to live there and swim in the lake every day! Kitchen is well stocked with spices, dishwasher detergent, dish soap, trash bags, pots and pans, ect. Close proximately to downtown Traverse city and short drive to Sleeping Bear Dunes and Glen Arbor. Friendly neighbors and I even left my purse in downtown Traverse City by the lake when we took family pictures, and I had it returned to me by the nicest police officer. Tim is wonderful to work with. I would definitely recommend this house and rent again.

Perfect place to explore the Traverse City Area! ... And, your pooch is welcome. Great house with wonderful architecture including the skylights and lots of windows overlooking the wooded lot and Long Lake! It was fun to cook in this house as it offers a well-stocked kitchen.
For those that went, the canoe ride to Round Island was the highlight of the week. Make sure to use the canoe!
Location, location, location. For beautiful nature walks, drive 1 mile down the road to Timbers Recreation Area. Traverse City is only a simple 15-minute drive to downtown. Sleeping Bear Dunes National Shoreline and Leland with its historic Fishtown are 30-minutes away. We really enjoyed two wineries near Leland: Boathouse Vineyards and French Valley Vineyards. ...
So many sites, so little time.

Summer Lark was a wonderful rental property. Tim was very good about communicating property specifics and the entire family had a memorable vacation (including the 2 fur babies). Great view of lake from the house, excellent dock located on the quiet north end of Long Lake. The house was located conveniently to all the Traverse City attractions. Would highly recommend this property - thanks Tim!!!

Great home nestled in the woods on beautiful Long Lake. Our group of four adults and two kids had a great week here. Summer Lark is very well-maintained, well-stocked, and has plenty of room to spread out. We enjoyed dinners on the deck, playing in the water, and cruising around the lake. Great location for other activities too. Owner Tim is spot on with communication-always prompt in responding to questions.

First time staying at Summer Lark during the week after Labor Day. Quiet time on the lake but still plenty of things to do in and around the area. We have stayed at other rentals by the same owners and were not disappointed with our first stay at Summer Lark. Summer Lark would be a nice rental for family or friend vacations as there is privacy on each level of this home. Would certainly stay again!

We loved our stay! The location is amazing, nestled in the tress but close to all the things. It was a decent flight of stairs down to the water for my mother in law, but worth it. You are met with amazing views, great swimming and beautiful dock.
The layout is perfect with a bedroom upstairs and the remaining rooms downstairs separate from main hangouts. The place is decorated very well and stocked with everything you need. Hosts were very nice and accommodating. Can’t wait to come back!

Recently spent a week at this location. My wife, myself, two adult children and their significant others. Main bedroom on main floor and two others in walkout basement. Worked out great. House was clean and in good working order. Lots of windows to view the woods and the lake beyond. Note that this is a wooded lot on a hill. If you want to hang out by the water you will be on the dock as there is no usable shore due to the awesome woods that go right to the water line. The dock is very nice. We had room for four beach chairs. There was a canoe available and we brought two kayaks. Enjoyed exploring the lake and the islands. You can walk to the Timbers Recreation area without going on main roads. We usually stay more on the west side of the peninsula but this location was nice as we could get to Traverse City easily as well as Sleeping Bear Dunes. Owner was communicative and responsive, all via email.

Enjoyed our stay, very quiet, beautiful view of the lake from the dock, and a great pivot point for lots to do in the grand traverse area. Liked the setup of the house in that the grandparents had the main floor and kids and Parents had the bottom floor for separate bathrooms and privacy. Overall, a very nice stay for all three generations.
