"Quinta de Vilar is what its title suggests: a former vineyard. What makes this property such a gem is: the glorious mature garden, surrounded by the extensive grounds of the former vineyard; the fabulous 20m x 10m pool, with an additional, ice-cold, smaller pool, hidden in the woodland; two splendid dogs; and Carmen, the charming and helpful host.We spent a relaxing two weeks here, during the June 2025 heatwave, keeping cool in the pools, which are for guests sole use, and the air conditioned house.Qunita de Vilar is ideally located, 30 minutes’ drive from Porto Airport. There are nearby train stations, with free parking, for trains into the centre of Porto, where driving is to be avoided. There is also easy access to the wonderful Douro valley, with its myriad wine and port producers.Not to be missed is Casa Da Viuva wine bar and restaurant, which is 5 minutes’ drive: they have a fantastic selection of quality wines and food, with friendly and welcoming staff.Carmen was the perfect host, leaving us to do our own thing, but always available to help, if needed.Everything was immaculate clean and well looked after.Thank you very much"

"The house with it's excellent facilities and beautiful garden is lovely: we all enjoyed the time we spent there. We hadn't hired a car as we stayed in Porto at the beginning and end of our holiday and had a wedding in-between. However, a car for a couple of days would have been useful as the local shop, whilst good, did not have all that we required food wise. The restaurant and coffee shop are worth a visit Mario is an excellent host and responded promptly when we contacted him."

"We felt very lucky to have found your lovely farmhouse. The old olive press was very interesting. The house was huge, comfortable, the hosts were very welcoming and the location was perfect for us. "Out of the tourist rush and surrounded by local culture. Lots of space with easy access to excellent local restaurants only a 5 euro Uber away. A 14 euro Uber from the center of Porto so many things to see and do. Grocery store minutes away, well outfitted kitchen, plenty of privacy for larger groups within the house . Amazing and attentive host. Definitely one of the highlights of our trip "

"Tudo estava exatamente como descrito no anúncio. A casa é muito ampla, equipada com tudo o que é necessário para uma estadia confortável, e com um excelente espaço exterior, que fez os deleites também aos nossos amigos patudos. Fomos recebidos com muita simpatia pelos proprietários. Tivemos sorte com o tempo e pudemos usufruir da piscina, apesar da água fria. Muito obrigada."

"Hotel needs a serious upgrade / revamp, walls dirty and carpets worn and dirty. Couch in room dirty; horrible mattresses and pillows; hair in beds; carpet stained, worn and dirty; walls marked and scuffed; kitchenette terrible - taps and sink dirty, extractor oily and smelly. Not to mention the TV... Breakfast limited and selected cappuccino from coffee machine and got a hot chocolate... 🙈 Not at all aligned to the pictures and reviews "
