Really nice hotel and staff got an upgrade which was a bonus but even without this we would have given an excellent review. Close to shops and bars had a lovely walk round town after dinner.
The hotel was very comfortable with a nice room. We had a separate lounge area, making it very comfortable and easy to relax. Only disappointment was insufficient hot water in the evening to take baths, though plenty in the morning.
Dinner in restaurant was very nice and the breakfast buffet good.
We shall definitely return there.
I chose this Hotel because Tournus was just over half way to our final destination (the French Alps). Such a wonderful discovery, we would go back and stay longer! Fantastic restaurant 😋
A great hotel at a very reasonable price. We had a suite as my husband and I were travelling with our 20year old daughter and dog. It was like an apartment. Lovely large bathroom and a separate shower room and separate toilet. Large sitting room with large comfy sofa bed and a large bedroom with extremely comfy bed. Secure parking opposite. Easy to get to for a stopover just off the motorway when travelling through France. Lovely large village/small town to explore with cafe and restaurant options and Le Rempart offer these as well

One night stay
The room was difficult to find a strange layout and needed automatic lights on the stairs . The hotel has had some improvements over the last couple of years , sadly the beautiful restaurant has had modern tables put in and now it’s only a breakfast room such a shame . But the restaurant was fantastic food and lovely service . The town was very pleasant to look around .
Very nicely appointed hotel with helpful and friendly staff. Rooms are large, but the bathrooms seem to be set up mainly for the elderly, with grab handles, very high seated toilets. Our room had a very nice, large bath, but a tiny shower head that pulled out of the bath on a hose with no where to hang it and no shower curtain. No good if you want a shower. Food in the restaurant was very good. Would stay there again. But would request a room with a decent shower.

Liked: Staff & service
The room was spacious, very nice comfortable bed. However it shows its years and would need some modernisation.
Bathroom came with a bathtub, no shower and a separate toilet room ( which happened before in France but I don’t really like it).
The parking it’s in front of the hotel in a gated area ( access with code) and was free. That’s really good as many hotels charge 20 euro and I really appreciated it.
Overall a very good stay
A neat hotel that is not ashamed of its slightly pompous appearance. The upgraded room we were given has seen life, but everything was fine. A fenced parking space is a big plus. Breakfast is quite versatile. At dinner, the appetizers are excellent, but it is impossible to praise the mediocre main courses. Extensive wine list, great! The bar's whiskey selection was also very pleasing.
Beautifully decorated hotel, lovely room and facilities, in a very attractive small town. Great bar and restaurant in the hotel too. The only slight negative: position of grab handles in the bath make getting in and out a bit difficult if you have any mobility problems, as the bath is very high.
Great room - more like a suite and very quiet. The hotel is situated in a beautiful mediaeval town which is well worth exploring. We only stayed one night and ate in the restaurant and drank in the bar. The service was not great; rather cold and unengaging staff who did not seem to want to serve (in stark contrast to our other French experiences on a two-week road trip). Had a steak in the restaurant which was decidedly average.
There is a car park opposite the hotel but we were not able to find it and parked elsewhere. Why don't hotels explain where their parking is on their Expedia entry?
