La Rioja may be Spain's most famous wine-producing region, but the Penedès area near Barcelona is also home to some excellent wine.

The Jean Leon Wineries are small but have beautiful views of the surrounding countryside. The wines are also delicious! My personal favorite was the Vinya Gigi Chardonnay (named after Jean Leon's daughter), even though I don't typically like white wines very much.

If you're staying in Barcelona, you can be happily wine tasting in the Penedès region in under an hour's drive.

Only negative was that it did not include beach towels (or dish towels) and there was no indication in the information received that we would need to provide them. "The villa is specious and in an excellent location. Easy access from Barcelona with a car. There is also a Train station 5 minutes walk. The kitchen is probably the best one we ever seen in a vacation rentals. Very comfortable and equipped with everything required for home cooking.
