9th hole fairway Edwalton Golf Course - developed on the former village fields, many of the fairways cross ancient ridge-and-furrow.
Railway embankment This was the Midland Railway's second route to Nottingham and was closed to normal traffic in the 1960s. Between about this point and Melton Mowbray however, it did not become entirely unused as it became British Rail's test track. There are still rails in situ here but I am not sure where it is still used this far up.

Looking south along the Great Central Railway. From a footbridge to the west of Ruddington 1723879. The branch off to the left leads to the Nottingham Transport Heritage Centre http://www.nthc.co.uk/ and was not there in the days when the railway ran from here to London Marylebone Station.

Hackett Lakes Fishery These large lakes are off Sandy Lane and are well stocked with fish. Privately run they are on the fringes of the vast complex of flooded gravel workings by the River Trent that make up the Holme Pierrepont National Water Sports Centre and Country Park.
