#FarawayFriday comes from somewhere so far away, even I’m not totally sure where it is! I know it’s somewhere between Chiang Rai and Phu Chi Fa - a viewpoint on the Thai-Lao border. I think it might be somewhere near Tap Tao, #Thailand 🇹🇭. It doesn’t really matter, though. The destination never does - it’s the #journey that counts!

"Great location and clean rooms. Mattress was very very firm and there was a lingering drain sewerage smell, just needed some bleach to clean the drain but I couldn’t find any for sale nearby. Staff were helpful and friendly. Toast and coffee in the morning was appreciated "

"Stayed here for 2 nights ! The owners are amazing such beautiful people who go out of their way to do whatever you need breakfast is included and is a huge amount of food cooked on the property! If you’re looking for brand new, this is not your place if you’re looking for eclectic with a cool vibe, immersed into local culture this is your place super cheap for what you get ! Rented a scooter White and golden temple is about 25 min drive and a must see blue temple is about 20 min also very cool...

"Clean, modern, comfortable. Wonderfully friendly host who stayed late so we could check in and gave us a lift to the night market. Plus an unexpected upgrade. Pleasant surprise that tea, coffee, bread, toaster and microwave were available. Wholly positive stay."

"We had a lovely stay at Spinomad Hostel. The host was very friendly and helpful. She even helped us to book a car to the tea plantation when our driver fell through. This hostel is a great deal for the pice. It is clean and comfortable and in a great area of the city!"

"Nak Nakara is a very nice hotel, reasonably priced and has a great pool (though we were there during rainy season and only got to enjoy it for a couple of brief spells). The breakfast buffet was terrific, with a separate "egg station" that prepared omelettes, other types of eggs, and pancakes and waffles. (My only wish would have been to add mushrooms to the omelette choices, but the omelettes were done nicely.) A very friendly staff, and though our booking was originally for one night, we decided we liked the place well enough to add a second night, which I booked at the front desk and even got a bit of a discount (equal to about 400 baht) off what the first night cost. We come to Chiang Rai often enough that we'd definitely consider staying at Nak Nakara again."

"La Patta is a very nice hotel, clean and in excellent condition. The staff are super friendly and nice. Their breakfast is great. They also offer free of charge drinks and snack, coffee and sandwiches after 1 PM. It is in great location. You can go to the walking street on the weekend in a minute walk. The night market is also close. I highly recommend it. "
