"Overnight stay was excellent - we used as a jump off point to Monarto Zoo which is 30 minutes drive. Strathalbyn is a beautiful town. Victoria Hotel is perfectly placed. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Nice bathroom. Comfortable beds. We had our son and booked a room for 3. Often places don't prepare the spare bed but these guys were organised and did prepare the extra bed which was greatly appreciated. Staff were friendly at check in and out."

"I telephoned and it was disconnected. I went to reception which was under construction and dangerous. When I found someone they walked me back to reception through the mess of construction to pay difference of bill and give me a key. Room was clean and was ok for one night. No chairs. Tiny bathroom. Bed and pillows were comfortable. Parking was not the best. Place is well located to cafes and pub."

"Room was clean and comfortable, albeit a little cold even with both air conditioning units running, but it was incremental weather. The fenced in yard facility was fantastic for our assistance dogs, which was a bid draw card to booking this cabin type; even still I feel that staff do need to be briefed on the ADA (Act 1992) and access rights for Assistance Dogs as I was told when checking in but one of the girls on reception in a passing comment (in which the other poor girl looked uncomfortable when the comment was made) that I was “lucky” as pets are only allowed in those cabins, when I corrected her and explained our dogs are accredited assistance dogs and provided credentials for them to sight and copy down; she then proceeded to continue with we only have those few rooms, as we find a lot of people don’t like pets in their rooms, again when I advised they are assistance dogs and not pets, she again said people do often get funny staying in a room if a pet has been in it before them, I then advised as assistance dogs aren’t pets that doesn’t apply to them due to training, hygiene standards and accreditation; but she said well that’s why we have pet friendly rooms, for people like you. The rest of the stay was fine, but the ignorance of “disability” with an assistance dog needs to be understood by all your staff, until that happens, unfortunately myself or fellow assistance dog teams I know won’t be staying with your park. Training suggested, lucky this isn’t reported."

Parklane Motel Murray Bridge

"While the staff were nice, the place smelled so bad. And despite signage stating they were opening at 10am on Monday due to the public holiday, there was no one there till 11am and no one answered the multiple after hours phone calls. I also ordered a king bed and they put two single beds together with only a thin blanket on top to make it ‘one’. I felt unsafe as there was a person in the stairwell all night and no security around. Would not recommend even with the cheaper price."

THE SHACK - GOOLWA CENTRAL

"The mattress was putrid and the smell genuinely was sickening. I tried to sleep on top of the quilt cover to mask the disgusting smell underneath but I just couldn’t. I tried to find another place last minute at 8pm and wasn’t able to. It wasn’t possible to sleep and I attended my function the next day exhausted and promptly went home. No coffee / tea or other amenities available as advertised. Toilet is actually outside in the freezing cold separate to the house which was not mentioned either. Old caked-on linty dust covers the bed head and there are stains all over the blinds if you dare touch the cords. The entire shack wreaked on stale cigarette smoke also, like suffocatingly strong. When I arrived that night every single window was open airing it out and it was freezing cold and raining so not only a disgustingly putrid smell to be greeted with but freezing cold too and its not insulated, just a basic besser block “shack” so very drafty. The split system AC fan doesn’t work so the fan stays on high either very cold or very hot. Traumatised. "

"Unfortunately there was a lot of water stain on the roof of the cabin we stayed in and you could tell it was pretty old with a terribly patched up hole in the bathroom. The facilities at the park were amazing however and the staff were friendly and very helpful, especially when the key broke off in the door. "
