It is also a safe, comfortable home base when you are ready to do some exploring. Conveniently located for day trips to cities, beaches, Revolutionary and Civil War sites, numerous antique stores, farmer’s markets, and centuries of historic architecture in Bennettsville and nearby towns.

This cozy one bedroom, one bathroom, second-floor apartment (not accessible) is nestled in the South Carolina countryside. Just 3 miles outside of Historic Bennettsville, SC, and on the property of historic Placid Acres Farmhouse (circa 1796), this escape sits 500 yards away from the main house and is surrounded by trees on three sides, providing privacy while allowing the bucolic view of farm fields on the fourth side.

The quiet location provides peace and calm when you want to enjoy a cup of coffee on the screen porch or read a book in air-conditioned comfort. Watch the lightning bugs (summer) from the porch in the evening and listen to the birds in the morning. Guests are invited to walk around the field, sit in the shade of the pecan trees, or enjoy the gardens and front porch of the historic main home. This is the perfect vacation place for a writer’s retreat, a relaxing get-away-from-it-all break, a home base for visiting family or an exploration of all the Carolinas have to offer.

This upstairs apartment sleeps 4 adults in two queen-sized beds. One bed is in the bedroom and the other is in the central room. Two televisions and Blu-ray/DVD players with numerous movies and card games are available for entertainment. The kitchen includes a full-sized refrigerator, stove, oven, toaster oven, Keurig machine, and hot water electric kettle. Coffee and tea are provided. The kitchen is fully stocked with all the dishes and utensils you need for cooking and dining. Al fresco seating for two on the screened porch and a small table for two in the eat-in kitchen are available for dining.

All linens and general toiletries are provided. Black-out shades are provided in the bedroom.

Price per night: $65

Pets are not permitted at this time for their safety. There are also stray dogs and coyotes that pass through the property. There are resident dogs on the property that guests may meet and enjoy (they are behind fences and gates and may be off leash with homeowners on the property).

5G Wi-Fi hotspot available upon request for a refundable security deposit of $150. This hotspot allows for laptop or phone use or 1080p HD video streaming (guests sign in using their own accounts) with the smart tv in the bedroom or the Blu-ray player in the central space.
