"The private beach and the breakfast/terrace make this hotel 5*****. The hotel is badly in need of updating/renovating. Old stained carpets and stodgy furniture and curtains. They could definitely keep all the old world charm with a fresh look. However, the staff is incredible and keeps the hotel clean and comfortable despite it being outdated. We were very comfortable during our stay and were impressed by the service and friendliness of the staff. The private boat to the private beach club was phenomenal and because of this and the views from the terrace for breakfast and pre-dinner drinks would have me booking this stay again anytime I visit Ortigia. Thank you to all of the staff who made us feel welcome and well taken care of! We loved Ortigia and this hotel made it truly special with the amenities, waterfront location, and phenomenal service!"

"Really lovely, well maintained resort, with attractive grounds. There are 2 large pools which are very clean and offer shallow children's section alongside a deeper section. One of the pools is quieter and the other has loud music, we enjoyed using both of them. The staff are very helpful, friendly and welcoming. Being mainly English speakers, we didn't find it difficult to communicate with the staff at all. We went to the beach a couple of times, it is 600m away but the hotel has transport to take people which runs most of the day. We went to the evening shows most night but they are mostly in Italian so we struggled a bit, however, our 4 year old daughter still enjoyed dancing along and watching parts of it. The best part is the food! We had delicious pastas, pizza, fish, vegetables, fruit... the food is varied and fresh. Also delicious deserts. The food quality is really good. The drinks need to be improved - they are served mostly in small plastic cups which isn't ideal. To note - we were all inclusive and paid more for a Superior room which was definitely worth it as you get access to a more premium restaurant and you get reserved beach chairs, beach towels, etc. Overall it beat my expectations and we'd go again."

"Our room was lovely, set out like an apartment with a nice terrace. The new bottles of water in the room every day was appreciated. Staff were friendly and helpful with all requests. The air conditioning was very effective and made the room a good base for a cool down from the hot weather. The decor was modern, bathroom was clean and plenty of space for toiletries etc. having access to Sky was fine, but some smart tv features to access other apps/cast would be a good update in future. We would have liked to have an iron in the room and there was very limited space to put/hang clothes. Additionally, a full length mirror upstairs would have been good. The shower and tap water never went cold, however, we understand there is a heatwave."
