Please plan to bring your own drinking water or boil the tap water from our well.
There is a front patio with chairs and a coffee table. The cabin has a smart TV as well as Wi-Fi. The kitchen is fully equipped with silverware, dishes, knives, pots and pans as well as a full-size fridge, stove, microwave and drip coffee pot. The bathroom has a flush toilet, roomy shower, hot water and we provide the towels.
The living area is a great place to relax and read a book or to kick your boots off after a long hike. This property is great for groups up to 6 to rent all three cabins as us about availability. We also have multiple other properties within walking distance, send us a message to inquire about group booking options!
When you rent this cabin it is all yours! The patio backyard and entire interior are for your enjoyment. There may be guests at the neighboring cabins so please be mindful of noise levels, especially after sunset.
We like to give our guests privacy. We may be on-site to clean another cabin or to fix a maintenance issue. If you need to reach us please contact us through the Airbnb messaging system. If you experience an emergency dial 911.
The neighborhood is called Ocotillo Mesa. There are a few neighbors around and this cabin is located off of a very well-maintained dirt road.
The entrance to Big Bend national Park is only 10 minutes away. The Cottonwood grocery store and many of our towns bars, restaurants and attractions are only 10 minutes away. The cabin is located just outside the hustle and bustle of our small town offering the best of both worlds: being close to town and also being private and peaceful.
Be prepared and have your driving directions printed out or screen saved before your arrival because cell signal does not span the whole area and if you do not have your directions laid out you may find yourself in a black out area with some confusion. Message us if you have any questions before traveling, we are here to help plan your stay so you have an easy fun experience.
There is a charcoal bbq available for guest use, please plan to bring your own charcoal as we do not supply it. No fires are allowed on the property.
Double check your guest count on the reservation you are booking is correct. Message us if you need to update number of guests and pets on your reservation. Note: rate increases with pets and larger groups.
Water Conservation
- This home is off the grid — every drop counts. No baths.
-Limit showers to under 5 minutes.
-Don’t run water while brushing teeth.
-Bring your own drinking water, paper plates, and cups to reduce dish washing.
-Only run the dishwasher when full (more efficient than handwashing).
- “If it’s yellow, let it mellow.”
-Laundry is primarily for housekeeping; please limit personal use.
Safety & Property Respect
-Stay near the house — no hiking or climbing on bluffs.
-No collecting rocks, plants, or firewood from the property.
-Do not approach within 15 feet of cliffs, arroyos, or drop-offs.
- Be alert for uneven terrain, cacti, snakes, and other wildlife.
-Respect neighbors’ privacy.
-Quiet hours: 10 PM–7 AM.
-Follow our dark sky ordinance — use minimal lighting at night.
-House is on septic — only flush toilet paper.

Cell phones may connect to towers in Mexico, which can automatically set your clock back one hour. Fires, Cooking, and Prohibited Items
-Provide your own firewood. Fires must be fully extinguished when you are done. Do not leave a fire unattended. No fires when it its windy.
- No fireworks, firearms, or confetti (confetti cleanup fee: $100).
-Outdoor cooking equipment must be on flat ground, 20+ feet from structures. Fully extinguish heat sources after use.
Pet Policy
-Pets must be declared in the reservation at booking.
-No Cats. An additional cleaning/damage fee of up to $1,000 may apply for unapproved pets.
-Dogs are not allowed on beds or furniture.
-Pets must be crated if left alone indoors.
- All pets must be on a leash and under control whenever they are outdoors.
• Guests are responsible for any damages caused by their pets and must keep them safe from local wildlife. The Chihuahuan Desert is home to coyotes, snakes, javelina, bears, mountain lions, and other animals that can pose a danger to pets.
•No commercial photography without prior approval.
• Guests are responsible for covering the cost of any damage, extra cleaning, or losses caused by themselves, their visitors, or their pets during their stay.
• Guests must follow all local laws and rules. Illegal activity may result in your stay being ended without a refund.d.
• We do our best to keep everything in good working order, but we can’t promise that utilities or amenities will always be available without interruption.
