Great Stay and Great Location - 100% satisfied

The Royal Motel Tenterfield appears to be a typical basic country motel but it has many special features, the staff were always helpful, the generous supplies of snacks and goodies - renewed daily - and the newly renovated bathrooms made it a standout. The rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable. The position in the town was excellent, just a little off the main road so little traffic noise and the motel is situated in the generous rear allotment of the hotel. The Royal Hotel itself is also a quirky but memorable venue dating back to the mid 19th century but substantially enlarged during the art deco period when much of its appearance and inside features dates from, in a combination of Spanish Mission and Morroccan. The public bar has a fun renovation in an outback Aussie style and is worthy of a visit.

Best place to stay in Tenterfield.

I have stayed in a few places in Tenterfield, but the Royal Motel is by far the best, for comfort, cleanliness, location (quite off the main road)and the staff are very helpful and friendly. 10/10.

Website it is somewhat misleading

We were disappointed that the wotif website did not show a picture of the hotel at the front of the motel units. The website gives the impression that this is a motel, not a hotel/motel. We were a little worried when we arrived as the hotel is a bit old and delapidated whereas the photos on the website show modern motel units only. The units were quite nice and the bathroom in particular was very new and very clean but I really thought we were booking a 'motel' room. We had trouble finding the facility because we were looking for a 'motel' not an old pub and I do feel somewhat deceived by the website's representation of this accommodation.

Hotel/motel in the middle of town

Motel units out the back of a typical country town hotel. The motel units were excellent, good beds, recently renovated with new bathrooms. Room supplies were very good, biscuits, coffee, tea, water, and bathroom.

Tiny room

Strange setting...they are motel units out the back of a pub. We had to go i to the main bar ti check in which I did not feel comfortable with being a lady travelling with her 19yr old daughter. Our room was immaculately clean (appears t be recently refurbished) but TINY....I mean the smallest place I have ver stayed. Expensive for the size of the room

Presently surprised; recently renovated and clean.

We were expecting a standard cheap room upstairs in a pub but instead we were pleasantly surprised with the new accommodation around the back of the pub. Staff were friendly and heaps of complimentary goodies. Water, bickkies and even some other snacks. Rooms lookef brand new and nice neutral colours. A very comfortable place to stay the nice.

New motel - great value!

The motel was brand new; the room was small but very clean and comfortable. There was a large mini fridge with a great freezer. It was very quiet as the motel was built behind the existing old hotel quite a distance away. Parking was in front of our unit with partitions on each side for privacy. The hotel restaurant was closed but the staff recommended another just a few minutes' walk away that was very good.
