"For those who are looking to luxuriate in the onsens of the Kii península… This is a place not to be missed. The cave onsens, especially, were both gorgeous and healing… The other ones perhaps a bit rundown, but still quite a treat. The staff were great (and multi-lingual) and my room was squeaky clean. The outdoor onsen is beautiful and even thought there were other guests in the hotel, we were the only one using them, so it was quite relaxing. "We booked two nights, but only stayed for one. The photos on this listing were of a different room than we got. The room was around 7 feet wide and way too small for a couple with luggage. The outside tub was for only one person at a time. I asked for an extra futon for extra padding (the futons were maybe 2 inches thick) and there was an extra charge per night. On top of the size and lack of cleanliness, the walls are paper-thin and a loud family with screaming crying kids was next door and...

"The bathroom had a pretty funky smell that never went away, and it seemed that their answer was to put a tiny bag of potpourri next to the toilet, but it could have used a more thorough cleaning.
