"Overall, it was quiet, cosy and clean. Value for money. There were a number of facilities in the basement that were closed/covered hence not usable. Deco and room is clean but looks wise of hotel/lobby/room is/looks dated. Would suggest to remove the protection cap or cover or replace with a bigger one so that it fits universal travel adaptors as 2 out of 3 wall plugs was not usable due to universal travel adaptor not able to fit and have to resort to using the powerpoints for the TV /...

"Very comfortable stay. Special dinner each night amazing. We stayed for four nights and different dinners each night. Lots of nice little touches that made our stay more comfortable, like umbrellas in the foyer for use during the rain, and free tea, coffee and soft drink"

"The property is slightly dated & the style of the rooms in the main block were old. However its public bath/ hotspring (i.e. onsen) were newly decorated & very roomy / well-lighted. It would be perfect if the rooms are facing the river which is the major HIGHLIGHT of the Gero township. The breakfast was excellent & recommend fellow travellers to also book dinner with the hotel as there is basically not many restaurants nearby in a hotspring township like this."

The meals were out of this world good, our room had a private Onsen which was amazing, but there's also an outdoor Onsen which you can enjoy at pretty much any time. Lovely stay!"

"Wonderful experience! A stately & historical large ryokan nested on the eastern hill slope of Gero town. My second stay at this ryokan & will continue to stay there next time I am in Gero. Very good vista of the town in the morning or evening. Very large garden & landscape, with tall tress & seasonal flower trees.or bushes.. a beautiful & varied feast for the eyes & senses if one come at different seasons... Has its own hotel museum to showcase it's checkered history & early artifacts, etc....

"Staff were great, especially Yoko as she spoke English and was able to help with requests. One source of stress was having to pay in cash if you elect to pay at the accommodation. This should be made clear when booking. We would have happily paid by credit card in advance had it been made clear. No one from overseas carries that kind of cash. The ryokan should be encouraged to adjust their "rule" and take credit cards."

"This would be the best choice if you are looking for an authentic traditional Japanese accommodation. The hotel is very clean and our room comes with a balcony overlooking the Hida River. The view is absolutely gorgeous. We particularly appreciate the staff's attentiveness. A very sweet male staff even offered to drive us to the JR station so that we don't have to carry our suitcases in the rain. The hot spring in the basement is nothing too fancy.
