The Rocks in Sydney is a vibrant, fun neighborhood. Sydney Harbour Hotel at The Rocks is a good value in that area. It's a 5 minute walk to Circular Quay, from which you can take the train, light rail or a bus to just about anywhere in Sydney. It's another 3 or 4 minute walk from Circular Quay to the Opera House. It's not a luxury hotel, for sure - no gym, tiny pool, non-functioning hot tub - but the room was clean and comfortable, and it's a lot less expensive than the hotels in fancier neighborhoods like Darling Harbour. Overall it was a great choice for our 10 nights in Sydney.

I don’t understand why this hotel has such a good rating. Yes, it is squarely in the Rocks neighborhood and walkable from Circular Quay. However, it is very outdated - the only modern thing is the bedding. I was uncomfortable with how dirty my room was. Ancient dirty carpets and a bathroom that hasn’t received a deep clean in ages. The closer I looked the worse it got - a booger on the bathroom door for instance. Disgusting!
