The people at the reception were nice and overall the staff is really friendly. Cockroaches were keeping us company during the lonely nights, and the fridge kept leaking ; the bathroom was dirty as well - we would be inebriated with weed smell on a daily basis, and whilst we wouldn't normally care, this was too much even for us. We understand it's a hostel, we really do, but the hygiene standards we require are not as high as the people that kept smoking in the courtyard.

We checked in late due to our flight was delayed nobody in check in counter. Receptionist came after 30 minutes and we are able to get in. It was sunday evening, it was a happy hour with a small space to walk due to guest are in the walkway drinking, singing and smoking weed. It was peaceful and for us conservative traveller the ambiance we don’t like. But we some nearby hostel because we extended our stay in Sydney for 2 2 nights it was calm and quiet unlike the Original. In that particular there are many hostels and a walk to train station.

Wouldn’t rush back - private room does not look anything like the condition it was advertised in. Not convinced it had been cleaned & am pretty sure someone came in my room (not to service it) while I was away.

Clean hostel all around. You could see cleaning done everyday. The kitchen was a huge plus for me because it saved me a lot of money on eating out. Three dinners were provided each week promoting social interactions with other guests. If I need a place to stay in the future I will be back

It is a party hostel and all the rooms are facing the courtyard so it‘s very loud. The bed was very old and the mattress very uncomfortable. The location is very good though and our room was clean.

I stayed in a double room with a private bathroom. I pay the same amount that any hotel in the area would charge for the same room. However, the room did not have soap or shampoo or anything to shower/clean-up. Its disappointing to pay more than $100 per night and to not even have a tiny piece of soap to shower.

I can't comment on the amenities as I had to cancel my 2 night booking less than half an hour after making it. They failed to respond at all to repeated requests from Wotif for a refund, but instead chose to just take ALL of my money and refund nothing even though their own policy says they are entitled to take one night. Why? because THEY took too long to reply to Wotif's multiple requests. So the lesson here is if there is a possibility that you may have to cancel a booking, DON'T BOOK WITH ORIGINAL BACKPACKERS! They'll just take your money anyway.

Pessoal um pouco mal humorado, uma galera meio estranha. Se a sua vibe é cheirar C@n@bis o dia todo é o seu lugar, se nao, procure outro lugar. O Alarme de incêndio tocava direito (provavelmente por algum hospede muito educado fumar no quarto), inclusive nas madrugadas. Tirando estes detalhes a estadia foi boa, ninguem nos incomodou, mas nao voltaria a me hospedar.

Excelente localização. Serviço básico, mas que atendendo ao tipo de alojamento é adequado. Quarto privado, com condições suficientes. A ventoinha ajuda mas... falta o ar condicionado. Toque simpático o pequeno almoço incluído e, um ou dois dias por semana, jantar gratuito. Oportunidade de conviver com viajantes de múltiplas nacionalidades. Staff da recepção muito simpático. Muito cuidado com as horas de ruído. Em resumo, uma boa opção para um orçamento limitado.

Einfaches Hostel in zentraler Lage

Das Zweibettzimmer war klein, aber recht gut ausgestattet. Sehr freundliches und hilfsbereites Personal. Laut bis ca 22 Uhr. Zu Silvester sehr teuer, aber mangels Alternativen ok. Wenn man keine allzu großen Ansprüche hat, sondern Sydney von Recht zentraler Lage erkunden will, empfehlenswert.

Creo que es una muy buena opción (claro, hay mejores lugares si tienes el presupuesto), pero si eres un estudiante internacional o un working holiday es una muy buena opción por la ubicación, fácil transporte, te permite conocer la ciudad ya que estás en el centro, hay personas de todas partes del mundo y puedes hacer amigos y contactos que aquí lo que vale son los CONTACTOS. Estuvimos en un cuarto compartido y me pareció justo. Si volviera a empezar, sin duda me iría por este hostal de nuevo. Totalmente agradecidos. (Pdt: el desayuno es gratis todos los días (cereal, leche, café, pan y mermeladas) y te dan cena gratis 3 días de la semana).

I was bitten by bedbugs and still suffering from it. Unbelievable that bedbugs can be found in winter time. The staff was friendly and allowed me to cancel further bookings but it is a matter of hygiene; cleaners might do didge jobs.

Shitty “stay”

Very dirty and didn’t end up sleeping there because off that. Basically payed for a storage unit. Very disappointing. If I was hotels.com I would not advertise them.
