We left this property on the first day and got a hotel room, so our review is based on the short time we spent there. The host was polite and the place does have a nice view. The property description should have mentioned a few things. The walkway to the basement door is a bit steep and slippery when wet. The apartment has very thin walls/ceiling. Noise from upstairs is a bit much, including the dogs barking. We could hear the conversations from upstairs so I’m sure they could hear ours. Speaking of lack of privacy, there are three doors that the owners can use to access your room.. none have any form of mechanical lock on the inside similar to what I’ve seen at every other property we’ve been to including hotels. It should be required. The dogs have a small kennel right beside the walkway and love to bark. We’re ok with dogs but some folks aren’t so, thought I’d mention it. Private deck ( or privacy in general) as mentioned in the add is very questionable. I guess the owners have a different definition of privacy than we do. So.. noise, lack of privacy, non-lockable doors, steep/slippery walkway and just plain feeling awkward while keeping our voices down led us to accept the loss $ and go to a hotel where we enjoyed the rest of our stay in VA. I guess it depends on personal standards, because we read the positive reviews, but we would not recommend staying at this property at any price.

Beautiful and Relaxing Getaway

The property was even more beautiful in person and my wife and I had such a relaxing time. The owners were so friendly and welcomed us when we arrived an showed us around which was helpful. Bill gave great restaurant recommendations that we tried and loved. An excellent trip and highly recommend this property if you are looking for beauty and relaxation while still being close to restaurants, shopping wineries etc.
