There is evidence from 1271 that there was a church before the current one. The previous one was built in red brick, fell into disrepair and was demolished. The church was built in 1860 by John Dobson. There is a nave with western bellcote with one bell, chancel with apsoidal sanctuary, south porch, and north vestry. The whole church is built in the Norman revival style. Externally, the apse has a corbel table of carved heads, and there are chevron and dogtooth decorations around the windows. Inside there is a ribbed vault to the apse. The south porch doorway is surrounded by beak heads and dogtooth mouldings. The nave roof is a crown post type. The font and pulpit are neo Norman. At the west end there are two memorial slabs, one from the 17th century and the other from the 18th century. There is a single manual organ by Forster and Andrews from 1864, which was restored in 1970. Pic by Jenny.
