"The Van Buren Hotel was so cute and folksy. It is far enough from the center of town to miss all the traffic but close enough to get in and out easily. The staff was great! What sets this hotel apart from many others is the room and amenities inside. It was so clean and there is a wooden luggage rack, which was truly helpful. The room was also sizable. Breakfast was good. My only negative is that you could hear what was going on in the hallway, from time to time. Regardless, we loved our stay and hope to do so again the next time we are in Shipshewana!"

"Everything was great. Only complaint I had was they were renovating and had to walk past many rooms that were being renovated to get to our room which was way down a long hall and I have back problems and trouble walking. Probably a 10 minute walk from car to lobby to elevator to room. Wish I would have brought my mobility scooter."

"It does not primarily seem to cater to overnight travelers, but to short-term renters. There is a vagrancy problem, and a trash problem. The place is not maintained. It is better to spend a bit more money and stay elsewhere, if you are only in town for a night or two."

"Room was not thoroughly cleaned there were items in drawer from previous guest. Pool water was a bit on the chilly side, but Dawn the Front desk gal is absolutely AMAZING! She remembers us every year that we book our stay. "

"Drove up to a boarded up building. A heads up would have been nice. It threw me off. Staff were professional and dealing with a lot considering the storm. Pictures on line make it appear they have a full gym. They do not, it’s the size of a closet. Hotel could definitely use some updating. "

"My friend and I enjoyed our stay very much. It was very clean and in an excellent spot for going to Shipshe. It's not a place i would stay with children but its an exceptional place to stay for adults. The road can be quite busy but it's very quiet in the house, which was perfect."
