Duke of Wellington

Slaley Hall Hotel, Spa & Golf Resort

8/10 Good

"We had a lovely stay at Slaley Hall. The building, grounds and setting are beautiful. Our spacious room had a huge picture window overlooking the golf course, a large comfortable bed and good amenities. The complimentary minibar was a lovely touch. The food was excellent. Breakfast had a great range of cooked and continental choices and our evening meals were every bit as good, if not better. The bar staff were always friendly, smiling and chatty, despite the bar appearing understaffed at times. There were some housekeeping issues. The sofa was stained, the iron needed cleaning before use and glasses left in our room on day two hadn’t been cleaned properly, with lipstick still visible on one rim. Restaurant service was our main disappointment. On one occasion I waited while two staff continued discussing which tables they would serve before acknowledging me. On our final evening, around five staff were talking together while we waited to be seated. We could hear them discussing which guests had or hadn’t tipped, including guests who had experienced problems with their stays. This felt inappropriate and unprofessional. These issues didn’t spoil what was otherwise a really enjoyable stay. We’d happily return, but greater attention to housekeeping and restaurant service would make a very good stay an excellent one."

10/10 Excellent

"We very much enjoyed our stay at Winnie Cottage! We spent eight nights there and found it to be a wonderful home base for exploring the surrounding area. The cottage was well equipped and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We were even greeted with a lovely basket filled with all kinds of goodies, which was such a thoughtful touch! After a day of sightseeing, we loved coming back to the cottage and relaxing in the hot tub. It was the perfect way to unwind in the evenings.Michelle and Mark were excellent hosts. They provided us with great information about the house and were always quick to respond whenever we had a question. We would definitely recommend Winnie Cottage to anyone staying in the area. We had a wonderful stay and would happily return!"

8/10 Good

"Corbridge is a lovely lively village full of interesting shops, places to eat and places to visit. Daisy Cottage is close to the Centre of the village. One important thing to mention is that the bathroom in the cottage is not upstairs as stated in the description, it is on the ground floor. "
