The check in was excellent. Everything explained clearly. Room -radiator would not turn off so very warm slept with window open. Unable to turn off lights,at side of bed so unscrewed . That worked. Bed comfortable. Shower hose had black mold on it. Room was clean although looking a bit tired. Overall ok stay.

I really liked the hotel, my room was so cute. Luckily they installed a second set of windows on my bay window and it really helped reduce the noise from the walkway below. It was definitely right downtown and the party folks used the walkway late into the night. I missed that they did not have parking.. you have to pay for parking. Staff was helpful in choosing a good location (behind the hotel or down the street), but I’d prefer included parking. Staff is not there full time, but were helpful when there.

I was surprised there was no reception or anyone to greet us. The entry looked like an abandoned bar. We tried to call a phone number from a sign on the window, but nobody answered. Because we arrived after 3pm, we wanted to go sightseeing before everything closed, so we took the risk of leaving our luggage unattended. Luckily, when we came back, we were able to call and talk to someone to check us in. The rooms were lovely & clean. Check out was contactless, so again, nobody to confirm our stay was at its end.

Fantastic. It was a little strange to learn that the front desk was mainly unattended, but that didn't end up being an issue at all. Wonderful, comfortable room. Quiet, except for that moment at around 2am when the entire country cheered Scotland's goal in the World Cup. The only thing that was mildly inconvenient was the parking situation. There is a parking lot behind the building, but it wasn't cheap. Parking at the bus station down the road was much more affordable, but a bit of a walk with luggage, etc.

Very centrally located. Perfect room for a one night stay. There was mention of onsite parking however this was not the case. There is a pay for car park at the rear of the property.

The room we were in was quite large compared to other Eu and British hotel rooms. The bathroom was modern and large. We parked several blocks away at the train station, where we could pay a daily parking rate, rather than pay each 2 hours at the lot adjoining the building. The reception person was helpful, but reception is only open a couple hours per day, and there were no amenities other than a tea kettle in the room. The facilities met our needs, as there are restaurants, cafes and bakeries on the block. The hotel is in a great location for seeing the sites in Stirling.

Our stay at Friars Wynde was a treat x Staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Room was warm and had everything you need .Being situated in the city centre makes it easy to access anything and everything you need Overnight was about a 5 minute walk from hotel but hotel has parking at back of hotel to use to take luggage through back entrance. Definitely going to stay there again really enjoyed our stay there ❤️

Lovely apartment , really comfy beds and nice cosy living area and kitchen, great location and friendly staff. The only reason it’s not 5 stars is because the windows are so thin and as I stayed on a weekend I barely slept because of the noise on the street - I recommend brining ear plugs!

4/10 Poor

Disliked: Cleanliness, staff & service, amenities, property conditions & facilities
When we initially booked the photos & star rating looked promising. Unfortunately, the property did not live up to expectations. Weeks before arrival, we contacted the hotel to ask about dropping off our luggage early, but never received a response. Our first impression was disappointing. The exterior looked rundown, dirty and with peeling paint. We arrived to a very musty, empty bar. The property advertises itself as a wine bar, but the space felt deserted and uninviting. The woman who checked us in was very kind, friendly & knowledgeable. The stairs & hallways were shabby, and a hallway light wasn’t working. Thankfully, our room itself was clean and tidy, with clean linens, towels and bathroom. Unfortunately, the shower was a significant problem. It did not drain properly, and water quickly rose above our ankles while showering. The location is great and, despite reviews mentioning street noise, we had no issue with it as the street was quiet by around 11 p.m. The walls are thin, however, so hallway footsteps and doors closing were easily heard. Overall, this property has tremendous potential. With investment and attention, it could be a wonderful place to stay. The room was clean, but very worn, which is important. Given the property’s overall condition, lack of communication and shower drainage issue, we would not recommend it in its current state. I truly hope the owners invest in it as the location is excellent and the potential is definitely there.
