About this property

Roundhead Mountain Lodge

  • Tucked away on one private acre on the east side of its namesake, Roundhead Mountain Lodge is a beautifully renovated chalet designed for comfort, relaxation, and unforgettable mountain views. From nearly every vantage point, you’ll enjoy sweeping panoramic views of Shenandoah National Park, including Ida Ridge, Pine Grove, and Tanners Ridge—a stunning backdrop year-round.

Inside, the lodge features warm pine paneling throughout, creating a cozy mountain atmosphere while still offering modern amenities. The home includes three spacious bedrooms and three full bathrooms, making it ideal for couples, families, or small groups. Two of the bedrooms are master suites with 15-foot vaulted ceilings, providing a bright, airy feel and plenty of space to unwind.

Step outside to the large wraparound deck and upstairs balcony, where you can enjoy your morning coffee, watch wildlife pass through, or take in breathtaking sunsets over the valley. The deck is partially covered and enclosed, allowing you to enjoy the outdoors in most weather conditions.

One of the highlights of the home is the Master Spa hot tub, conveniently located on the deck. Here, you can soak while enjoying mountain views —perfect after a day of hiking, sightseeing, or simply relaxing.

The lodge is equipped with Starlink WiFi, making it easy to stay connected while still enjoying a peaceful mountain escape. The fully equipped kitchen includes everything needed to prepare meals at home, and the wood-burning stove (with firewood provided) adds warmth and charm during cooler months. Smart TVs, board games, DVDs, and cozy seating areas make it easy to enjoy quiet evenings indoors.

Located just a short drive from the many outdoor adventures of the Shenandoah Valley, including hiking, scenic drives, wineries, and national parks, Roundhead Mountain Lodge offers the perfect balance of seclusion and accessibility.

Driving Information - The cabin is accessed by a scenic gravel mountain road with several miles of winding, uneven terrain and inclines.

Spring, Summer & Fall: Most standard vehicles, including sedans and compact cars, can reach the cabin in normal weather conditions. However, low-clearance or low-riding vehicles are not recommended. If you’re uncomfortable driving on gravel or mountain roads, an SUV or AWD vehicle may be a better option.

November–March: A 4WD or AWD vehicle is required due to the possibility of snow and ice.

Mountain weather can change quickly, so please plan accordingly and allow extra time to drive carefully, especially if you’re not accustomed to mountain roads.

The place was nice and clean- The trail leading to the cabin was very bad and I don't think a car would be able to get through because of the trail. Other than that everything else was fine.

Beautiful spot with a lovely view. The house was perfect for us and three adult teen-20s kids. The kitchen was well equipped and the Blackstone cooktop was a real perk. Definitely need all wheel drive for getting in and out when there is weather. Very clean. We would stay here again.
