Inside, there’s room to sleep 7 – 2 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, a sleeper sofa in the basement, and a loft with a convertible sleeper chair. The main-floor master features a queen Tempur-Pedic Cloud and barnwood furniture; the upstairs guest room has a queen Beautyrest and a vintage clawfoot tub with overhead shower in the bathroom. The basement and master baths have walk-in showers. The kitchen features soapstone counters, a Viking range, and cast iron or Calphalon cookware for culinary adventures. The main-floor office with dual monitors has you covered if you need to log on. In the living area, a 65” QLED TV sits above the mantle - perfect for movie nights or curling up by the fireplace after a day of exploring. Perfectly situated for a quick getaway. Nestled between Greene and Madison County in a peaceful holler surrounded by mountains and streams. Just a two-hour drive from Richmond and Washington, D.C., and only 24 miles from Charlottesville–Albemarle Airport. Near Shenandoah National Park, Charlottesville, Rapidan WMA in DWR, breweries, wineries, antique shops, hunting, golfing, hiking, fishing, horseback riding, skiing, and more. Located in Virginia Wine Country on the northern border of the Monticello Wine Trail and AVA - just 11 miles from the award-winning Early Mountain Vineyards.
We want you to have a 5-star stay. Please be aware of the following:
1) We are on conservation land where wildlife is abundant. Please be aware of regulations about wildlife and its presence.
2) We are 18 miles (29 minutes) from the Swift Run Gap entrance to Shenandoah National Park.
3) We have high-speed internet for streaming. The smart TV features popular streaming apps, and there is also a blue ray/DVD with a small library of movies. HDMI and C-port video cables are already connected to the TV.
4) Most cell phone providers have coverage at the cabin; however, roads and areas leading up to Lazy Bear Oaks have intermittent coverage.
5) Living close to nature brings insects which may make their way into the cabin’s interior.
6) If you want to use the propane heater on the screened porch for cool evenings, the tank isn’t always stocked, but you can refill it at the country store 15 minutes away for about $20.
7) The cabin does not have childproofing or amenities to accommodate children.

Lazy Bear Oaks has the additional house rules listed below to aid in a safe and enjoyable stay for you and future guests.
OUTDOORS
- Educate yourself to be aware of risks and safety measures for potential wildlife encounters (i.e. black bears, bobcats, coyotes, deer, foxes, racoons, turkey, snakes, etc.)
- Do not feed or bait wildlife (includes not leaving trash outside)
- No hunting or discharging of firearms on property
- Hot tub is for adults (21+) in good health and must adhere to the posted warning sign and instructions in the welcome binder
FIRE SAFETY
- All fires inside/outside must be attended until extinguished and should be controlled/manageable
- Wood fires in the indoor fireplace are only allowed from October through March (candle logs such as Duraflame can be used year-round)
- Outdoor fires in permitted areas only (grills and firepit)
- Virginia’s 4 PM Burning Law is in effect from February 15 through April 30 each year (also in times of drought) and applies to the outside firepit
- Do not burn outdoor fires in windy conditions
OFF LIMIT AREAS AND EQUIPMENT
- Locked closets, storage cabinets, and mechanical room
- Basement wood stove is not connected for use
- Locked equipment shed, yard equipment, and utility vehicle
- Burn barrel (lawn incinerator)
