Poseidon Apartments

"We loved our attic apartment. We had a massive roof top terrace which was so laid back with comfy chairs and a bean bag where we sat at night drinking tea. After a late night drink at Michael’s bar or live music at Metaxa! Staying in the village was really different from staying along the beach road. The views were amazing. Our other balcony was lovely too much smaller but great for just sitting and looking in another direction over the village and the sea. But it was Maria and Effie, mother and daughter that made our holiday with their beautiful smiles and beautiful eyes! It was like staying with friends. It was peaceful and right in the village with access to both sides of Skala depending if you turned left or right. Supermarket just round the corner which opened until at least 11pm. The bed was super comfortable. I think they would have done anything for us so kind generous and welcoming. Epharisto ladies! X"

"The site is picture perfect. It’s built into a cliff above the sea, and the rooms face the morning sun, rising above the water. The property is terraced: every room has a view. This is not a hotel I would recommend to anyone with mobility issues. I asked for a room which was more accessible, due to health issues. Our room was on the “ground floor”/top of our terraced building. 4 flights of stairs down to the pool- the sea is farther down a long incline. 3 flights of stairs up for meals. The staff has golf carts for luggage, and I don’t know if they would have picked us up and driven us to the next terrace up, but we never saw them idle, so we did not ask. The resort seems to attract mostly British tourists, and breakfast is always a British breakfast. The Greek food was great, and there’s a station with fries and grilled meat for picky eaters every day. The staff that ran pool activities did such a great job of getting people of all ages to participate in games and activities. Getting whole families to do the same thing takes a special skill!"

"We loved our visit to Piano Villa. It was the perfect size for our family of 2 adults and 4 teenagers. We loved the space and the outdoor area. Everything we needed was available. The hosts got in contact a few days before we arrived, were there when we arrived at the villa, gave a tour and were readily available and in contact. So the perfect hosts. There was a power cut in the area whilst we were there and the hosts were great and checked in on us after the power was back up. We did walk into town one night but drove in the rest but this was not a problem. We did a mixture of days in and days out and on the days in we spent a lovely hour or so on our 'private'beach which was gorgeous and well worth the hike up the hill on the way back."

"Immaculate property. Lovely grounds. Pool area is really nice. Plenty of sun beds, lovely view. Nice and peaceful. Only thing is the sun beds do make a noise and some guests insist on dragging them around rather than wheeling them by simply lifting the bed from the bottom but that’s not really the hotels fault. We love staying here as a base in Kefalonia. Friendly staff have always given us the room we request. Breakfast is fine but could be better, not loads of variety and it’s repetitive. Quality of the coffee and yoghurt is not great which for Greece, could be amazing. But was fine for a week, a few mornings we went to local bakeries for a change which were much better."

"We stayed at Villa Begonia (next door to Villa Lantana), lovely villa, beautiful pool area, great sunbeds. Costas was so helpful. We absolutely loved Skala, will definitely be back!"

"We loved our stay here. The hotel has a lovely modern feel . We had a seaview maisonette which was perfect for us as a couple and with our two grown up sons. Had a fridge, air con and safe and a lovely large balcony. The pool was lovely and we never struggled to get a sunbed. The hotel provides pool towels. Breakfast is served around the pool so a lovely setting. The pool bar is also excellent and run by the amazing Tony , we loved our chats with him and his lovely partner Angelika who is a cleaner at the hotel. All the other staff we encountered were also lovely people and so helpful, this included the ladies at breakfast, the lady on reception in the mornings , Anastasia on reception in the afternoons, the owner and his son. Thank you all so much for making our holiday in Skala a great one"

" A truly beautiful villa with an exceptional ownerWe absolutely loved Villa Demeter. From the moment we arrived, we were struck by just how beautiful, luxurious and immaculately clean the villa was. Everything has clearly been cared for to an exceptionally high standard, and it really does feel like a very special place to stay.The pool and outside area are simply fabulous. The pool is a wonderful size, beautifully maintained and became our favourite place to relax. The setting is peaceful and private, with everything you could want for a perfect holiday in beautiful Kefalonia.However, what really sets Villa Demeter apart is its owner, Peter.During our stay, the Skala area was affected by the frightening wildfires. This was obviously something completely beyond Peter's control, but his concern for us throughout was incredibly reassuring. He kept in touch, genuinely cared about our safety and wellbeing and could not have been more thoughtful.What touched us particularly was that Peter subsequently refunded part of the cost of our stay because of the disruption caused by the fires. He certainly didn't have to do this – the circumstances were entirely outside his control – and his generosity meant a great deal to us. It says everything about the way he treats his guests.You can book a beautiful villa in many places, but finding one this lovely with an owner who genuinely cares about the people staying there is much rarer.We wouldn't hesitate for a second to recommend"
