Large relaxing house in 25 acres of private woods with lake access.
Spend a slow summer day walking the trails in the private forest, playing in the lake, and sipping ice tea on the deck. Or snowshoe for miles on the nearby trails and return to a warm fire and cocoa. The house is not ADA compliant, but is designed to be friendly to guests with limited mobility. There is a first floor bedroom with a full size bed, near a bathroom with a low lipped shower with an integral marble bench. The house is not directly on the lake. To access the lake you walk about 15 minutes on a forest path.

Excellent home in the woods. All as advertised, my family and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Communication with the owner was excellent. 10/10, we’ll be back next time we’re in the area
Overall stay was great. Owner was very accommodating, great location close to grocery stores and restaurants, property was private and well kept. It was a great choice to celebrate a graduation, birthday and a family vacation over a weekend!
Great stay, comfortable and spacious
We loved the cooks dream kitchen
We enjoyed the fire pit the first night
And apologies for neighbors concerns
We would love to stay again!
Property was just as advertised online. Very clean and well kept. Lake access is fantastic. Communication from, and with host was exceptional. Great stay!
We had a great stay at this house! It was clean, comfortable and in a beautiful location. Check in and check out was easy and the host was great. We very much enjoyed our stay!
Very nice house. Everything is brand new, clean and thought through. There are even phone charging cords in the bedroom.
Maybe not a big deal but what a nice touch.
Beautiful house that allowed everyone to feel comfortable including our 4 year old and two year old grandsons. Everyone slept extremely well and soundly.
Beautiful house and backyard. Great location if you are into kayaking and canoeing. The walk to the lake isn't that far- maybe a 7 minute hike. Would recommend 10/10
We stayed at Jim's property during a weekend of disc golf at Maple Hill. Jim was very accommodating ahead of our trip and the property was clean and tidy upon arrival. If you are planning a trip to play Maple Hill and surrounding courses this property is the place to stay. Close proximity to a number of courses. We will certainly be back!
Jim’s home was the perfect resting place & backdrop to my eldest sons wedding! The home provided space for all my immediate family members who traveled from Hawaii, Oregon, Florida, Vermont & New Hampshire. It’s was a quiet and peaceful retreat from all the hustle & bustle of a larger than life wedding weekend. The home has a large and well equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, and beautiful surroundings! We would def stay here again—thank you Jim for sharing this wonderful space with us!
This was a nice place for my family to gather. Plenty of room for us to all be inside and plenty of space outside for the young ones to run around. Very nice kitchen and bathrooms. Clean and comfortable. Beds were comfortable, but the bedding could use a bit of an upgrade. Over all a nice place to stay.
My friends and I were thrilled with this home in Spencer. It was obvious that Jim, our host, and his family put a lot thought and work into making it feel welcoming and comfortable. We very much appreciated its cleanliness, spaciousness and the way everything was labeled to facilitate finding items that we might need in the kitchen and other areas. It was truly wonderful and we look forward to returning next year.
We planned a girl’s weekend with our family aged 2-60+ and this beautiful home met everyone’s needs. The home itself is stunning and has amazing amenities such as on demand filtered water, toiletries, kitchen equipment, games and more. You are made to feel like this is truly your home to live in while you’re there. If you have an infant or toddler like we did there is porta-crib, toddler bed, kitchen step up to meet all their needs. The only thing that I must comment at all negative is that the walk to the water is quite challenging for toddlers and older folks with any mobility issues and once you get there it was underwhelming since access to the water would be difficult at best. On the other hand the local area offers lots of activities and shopping that kept us plenty busy, if your there July-December be sure to visit the Oakwood Christmas Barn it alone was worth the trip. We still have more to explore and definitely will be back!!
