"The hotel is magical - the staff super friendly. The decor elegant - remodel very well done - its very chic and not done in cheep way - the quality of toiletries and tea in room are high end - organic - wish we could stay here longer. The only thing to watch out for is check-in is closed from 12h-15h. The stairway up to the rooms is a bit narrow. Not a problem but just to be aware if you use oversized luggage. I would defiantly stay here again. "

"The Prince Consort is a nice local pub which also has rooms for bed and breakfast. I enjoyed the full English breakfast, which included very good quality bacon and sausages and all the usual ingredients. The coffee was especially delicious. I was visiting for a family funeral which was catered for there too. The buffet for the wake was also very good."

"We came with our 3 year old and 6 year old just for an overnight stay as we had visited Longleat. The hosts were really lovely and we had a little continental breakfast for the next morning with fresh milk and juice in the fridge. The room was spacious with a king sized bed and 2 x singles. Bathroom was spacious with great shower. Outside is a little courtyard plenty of space for the kids to run around. Nice and clean and spacious. Rooms finished to a high standard. "The only possible complaint would be that we had to wait an hour after we had ordered food before it appeared. The food itself was excellent. Reserved named parking spaces for residents most helpful,. Very welcoming staff. "

"The Fox was a lovely place to stay while visiting family. The meal that we had on the first night was extremely good, and we had been told that the breakfast was going to be just as good. Unfortunately this was not the case. My husband had the full English, but the black sausage was so dried out that when he put his fork in it it broke into tiny pieces (inedible). The bacon wasn't much better. The hash brown and the mushrooms were ok. However, he was asked how he would like his egg, which...

"Fabulous hosts and wonderful breakfast. Spotlessly clean throughout - slightly noisy traffic at rush hour, but so quiet at night. "

"A most enjoyable, peaceful, one night stay, wish we could have stayed longer to enjoy the grounds. We were in one of the oldest, original, parts of the house, but everything was tastefully up to date and very clean. All the staff were extremely welcoming and friendly."

"When we arrived at the Griffin, to our surprise, our reservation was canceled. Apparently, the Griffin had a water leak and were in the process of repairing the damage. They said that an email was sent to us canceling our reservations 2 days prior. We were on a cruise at the time and did not get this email because we had no service while on the cruise. It was a very unfortunate situation. We are from the USA and found out upon arrival in England that our cell phones were not working properly so...

"Great place to stay and convenient for the South Downs Way, I had a very smat bedroom with bath and shower on suite. The food was very good though a bit of a limited menu but enough for most people I would think. "

"Nicely converted stables tucked away in a lovely position. Although just off the main road, we could not hear the traffic noise. Lovely grounds, peaceful and tranquil. The rooms are conveniently opposite the granary where breakfast was laid out. Great selection for a continental breakfast - cheeses, meats, fruits, cereals, breakfast bars, a variety of breads too. Jean is absolutely lovely. She kept us amused and nothing was too much trouble."
