"We were given an upgrade...very thankful for the huge room. Great air conditioning unit..plus fans. Staff were all happy and helpful. A special thank you to Isuru from the Rooftop Restaurant and Bar. He helped me choose the right Sri Lankan option at breakfast...it was fantastic and a lot of food...all superbly cooked by the chefs. "Hotel was welcoming, stylish and located a couple of minutes from the best side of the beach. The rooms are a little smaller than they appear on the photos but spotlessly clean, modern and well equipped. The atmosphere and cocktails were great, & breakfast was lovely with lots of choice. Hotel staff were incredibly friendly and could not do enough to help - particular thanks to Imash for his help and advice."

The karaoke facility was a pleasant surprise and it was such good fun after dinner, which gave great entertainment to our small group . Breakfast was fabulous. Our stay was 5 star. Amazing place. Cape Weligama - Relais and Chateaux

"Beautiful location surrounded by stunning nature, with amazing rooms and a breakfast of a very high standard. However, the grounds and overall maintenance do not reflect the level expected from a Relais & Châteaux or Michelin Key property. There were dry leaves and weeds throughout the territory, and several trees appeared infested or dying. For such a large estate, there should clearly be more gardeners and stronger attention to maintenance and cleanliness. The lunch and dinner offerings were also disappointing considering the prices charged. At this level, the quality should match the cost. In particular, dishes prepared with raw tuna were served with the fish appearing brown rather than bright red or pink. As a cook myself, I know this indicates oxidation and a lack of freshness. I was also surprised that the concierge sent me an unsolicited bill via WhatsApp the night before checkout while I was still relaxing and my departure was only the following morning. At high-end properties, the guest experience is usually handled in a far more seamless and discreet manner. I have stayed at several Relais & Châteaux hotels before, and unfortunately this was among the weakest experiences in terms of service and guest handling. I would recommend taking inspiration from the Constance hotel group, particularly Prince Maurice, which understands luxury hospitality and guest relations at a much higher standard."

"We had a really good stay at Weligama Bay Marriott. Our stay really raised the bar for our future hotel experiences. The ocean view from the room was breathtaking, and there was very easy beach access for swimming and surfing. The hotel staff was really good and helpful as well, including the front desk staff, our concierge Nuwani, Kids Club supervisors Rashmi and Wishmi, as well as all the staff at the Weligama Kitchen whose names we couldn't catch. Weligama Kitchen - The breakfast buffet included a variety of cuisine, everything was fresh and delicious compared to many places we have been in and beyond Sri Lanka. Everything was clean, and the service was impeccable. Kids Club - Staff was very friendly and welcoming, and the space was well managed and very clean. The activities for the kids were age appropriate, and there was a variety of activities and a good selection of toys to keep the kids happy and occupied. Pools - Well maintained and clean, we had no reservations about taking our kids there and having a good time. Related amenities like showers, public bathrooms, towel service were all very reliable. Overall, a great place for families with little kids. Would certainly visit again. Thanks to everyone at the Marriott who helped make our stay a memorable one."

"We had a nice stay. Our initial interaction upon check in wasn't great, the lady on the front desk was rather aloof and unwilling to help with a room issue. The rooms are a little 'grubby'. The floors are maybe swept but not mopped in what appears to be a high turnover property. Pool facilities are great, Breakfast great, The Italian restaurant was ideal for the kids."
