We stayed in beautiful hotels in Portugal--this one is far/away the finest. Location is in the center of the historic, beautiful, charming village, which cannot be missed for meals, strolling, photos, etc. Highly recommend making the trip to the Arouca Geo Park for the Paiva Walkways and the suspension pedestrian bridge--experience of a lifetime!"

"Wonderful boutique hotel in a quieter area of Viseu surrounded by water fountains, a lovely church and a simply wonderful park with an abundance of wildlife. Great selection of close restaurants. We particularly enjoyed Vintage restaurant just a 2 minute walk. The owner is a real charmer. The staff at Avenida are very friendly and helpful. Rooms are spacious, well equipped and clean. A highly recommended stay"

"The staff couldn't have been nicer or more accommodating. One doesn’t expecy 5 star luxury at a hostel, but overall it's very serviceable. We happened to arrive on the hottest day of the year and discovered there was no air-conditioning (pas de climatisation). Other than that inconvenience, everything was fine. Nice breakfast, and again, wonderful staff hosts."
