A beautiful, peaceful property located on the Western shore of the Chesapeake Bay in St Mary’s County Maryland just 5 miles North of Pt Lookout State Park. The property is setup with everything needed for you and your friends and family to enjoy all year long. Read prior Guest Reviews on VRBO and Google Map to decide if the property will suit your needs while away from home. It has for 150 families over the past 7 years! “peaceful, cozy, comfortable, everything you need, relaxing, beautiful place to take walks and enjoy a run, we brought our bikes and had so much fun” are all comments we see in Guest Reviews and in the Guestbook. Parents are encouraged to shop ahead and bring your groceries with you on the first day because once you arrive, you won’t want to leave to spend any time in a grocery store! Wonderful house in an amazing, remote location. Just footsteps to a sublime, quiet beach. Ideal for families looking to get away from the city for a break and to enjoy nature. The Hideaway at Hayes beach is perfectly situated to enjoy the outdoor offerings. The backyard is lovely and has everything you need to relax and be outside. We saw all sorts of birds, a fox, skinks and little frogs. The kids loved it. What a wonderful, relaxing week.

I booked the Hideaway last minute and was the best decision! The home is VERY clean and well stocked. The game room and beach toys/kayaks were perfect for our short stay! We had the best time hanging out at the firepit roasting marshmallows! We will definitely book again when we return!

This was our second stay at the Hideaway. We have come to love Hays Beach like a second home. The backyard is beautiful and feels like stepping into a private park. When the sun got a little hot, we spent time hanging out in the sunroom, which also became our bird-watching spot in the evening. We have already started planning for our next trip to this stunning property.

Not my first rental in the Scotland area and was not disappointed! Jocelyn was communicative and kind and the house was lovely, cozy and clean. The house wasn't 100% ready at check-in, but she gave us advance notice and as it happened, we were running behind anyway. The property is well equipped, steps from the beach, has a beautiful backyard for warmer months, and was a great size for two couples and an infant on a winter retreat.Our only complaints were the tap water (very smelly and not pleasant to shower in, much less to drink - definitely bring your own bottled water), the lack of access to the game shed in the winter (the photos did not imply that this was a seasonal offering - maybe our mistake?) and the lack of storage in the kitchen. The owners have tons of food, kitchen equipment, and a huge selection of platters and dishware available, which seems like a perk until you try to fit your groceries somewhere. The small amount of counter space is also chock-full of decor (not unlike the rest of the house), so with the four of us cooking three meals a day we had to keep most of our food in the laundry area. For a longer trip, this would have been a bigger issue, but a small nuisance in comparison to everything else about this lovely home. Overall, the Hideaway clearly takes hospitality seriously, has a good cleaning crew and a spectacular location. We hope to visit again someday!

This is a great place to stay. We loved the house (it's really as perfect as it sounds) and the location and the description is accurate. I will note that in our July stay there were a significant amount of jellyfish in the water, which prevented a lot of swimming, but that is par for the course for the Chesapeake I believe. We LOVED kayaking around the backwaters and there was a lot to explore. If you are looking for a quiet place to spend time as a family, this is your place. My only recommendation would be to have some sort of "book" with info about the house and posting wifi codes physically somewhere in the house. Would have made it easier to figure things out upon arrival and having all info in one place would be easier.

We had a great stay here for the weekend despite iffy weather. The owners have thought of everything-s’mores station and fire pit, gameroom fun for kids and adults, lovely access to beach and walking. There was really nothing missing- and the beds and furniture were so comfortable! Thanks for the great hospitality!

A quiet get-away in a delightful bungalow with all the comforts of home, and more! It has a sunroom to enjoy morning coffee and nightly cocktails. The outdoor space, is by far, the best we've encountered so far with a stand-alone game room and lounge area, two fire pits (wood and gas), seating galore to bird watch or enjoy a night of stargazing. The kitchen is fully stocked with all the trimmings like spices, and foil, etc. Such an enjoyable stay and a fine respite from the daily grind. Hoping to be back soon!

The house is perfect for family or a small group of friends. It’s very loving furnished and decorated. The kitchen has everything and beyond. The backyard is a true jewel. It has enough space to have a small sunset party (the vistas are stunning) or have some activities with kids. The sea shore is just a short walk away. We loved every bit of our stay.

Property is in a very peaceful and private community. Many great family adventures to be had in the area and beautiful, peaceful home to relax at. This was the first trip we have taken our 6 month puppy on. He enjoyed every second of it, and so did we. The house has everything you could ever need, and more! Jocelyn was a great help in providing us with recommendations and really help make the trip something special. We are already looking at dates to return later in the spring or early summer to try and enjoy the beautiful beach in some warmer weather.
