"Solbakken Resort was a comfortable stay with a great view of Lake Superior. It's close to Grand Marais and a lot of restaurant and activity options. We only stayed for the night but I would love to come back and spend more time here. We happened to be there when there was quite the weather storm coming through. Since we aren't from this part of the U.S. the flash flood warnings had us concerned. But the Solbakken sits in a safe area and there was no impact by the rains. Other stretches along highway 61 weren't so lucky. We spent the evening in the main lodge playing pool and enjoying the hot cocoa. The rooms have a kitchenette and there's access to fire pits, grills, and relaxing private patios. Like I said, I would love to comeback and spend more days here!"

"The property is located right along Lake Superior and each room has a balcony that overlooks the lake. The property is somewhat older, but the owners are doing a lot of repairs. Our check-in was smooth and quick, the staff was very friendly, and coffee/hot chocolate/hot cider were available all day in a very nice sitting area. Although you have to drive to anyplace to eat, the location was close enough to towns that it wasn't a big issue. We also love Tofte and Grand Marais, so both were easy visits."

"This little cabin has an immediately rustic feel, but I mean that in a great way. It’s clearly a cozy old retreat that’s been enjoyed by a family for generations, but it’s been so well maintained. It’s clean and comfortable and full of interesting mid-century gems. The bathroom is tiny and the stove is ancient, but those aren’t details that will derail your stay. The location is great, the view can’t be beat, and we loved our time here. I’d definitely choose this property again!"
