O Lagar do Avô, a Home in Madeira

O Lagar do Avô is a house within the Kiwi House property, which also includes the main house, Os Ferreirinhos, and the studio O Miminho, each used independently.

The property is in a rural environment of traditional farming, with a wide view of the farmland and mountains. It has been in the family for three generations, as a family home and meeting place for grandparents, children and grandchildren, especially at Christmas.

The house O Lagar do Avô is of modern construction, but its living room preserves an authentic wine press, used by the family for decades, which today evokes the memory of the grandfather. It has an area of around 100 m² and comprises a master bedroom on the ground floor with a double bed (140 × 200 cm) and an open sleeping area on the upper floor, without a door, with three single beds (90 × 180 cm), as well as a living room, two bathrooms, a kitchenette and a terrace.

It also includes air conditioning, a washing machine, a dishwasher, a refrigerator, a ceramic hob, an oven, a microwave and kitchen utensils, as well as bed linen, towels, a heater, Wi-Fi, a TV with international channels and other amenities for a pleasant and relaxing stay.



📍 NEIGHBOURHOOD

The property is located in a rural area surrounded by farmland, close to the centre of the village of São Jorge, in the northern part of the island of Madeira.

A few kilometres away, there are impressive cliffs, mountains and Laurisilva forest for nature lovers and hikers, as well as other attractions.

A recommended walking trail, “Levada do Rei”, begins about 1.5 km away. Within a radius of 1.5 km, you can find restaurants and cafés. There is a grocery store 950 m away.

A car is recommended; the property has easy access to the main roads.



⚠️ PLEASE NOTE

The accommodation does not have private parking, but it is possible to park for free on the roadside.

Rural area, with insects and lizards naturally present and possible noise from dogs and other domestic animals on neighbouring properties.

Weekly maintenance cleaning, including a change of bed linen and towels.

We strongly recommend that guests purchase travel insurance covering cancellations or other unforeseen circumstances that may prevent their stay.

Due to the island's location and climate, the presence of insects and small lizards is natural, and they may be attracted by food scraps. We kindly ask that you keep surfaces clean and food properly stored.

For those sensitive to mosquito bites, we recommend using repellent when getting around the island.

An online pre-check-in form will be sent to collect the identification details required by law.

In-person check-in is by prior appointment. We will wait up to 60 minutes after the scheduled time; beyond that, it may be necessary to arrange a new time.

So that we can resolve any issue promptly, we ask that you report any faults or cleaning shortcomings immediately. Reports made after check-out may no longer be verified or resolved.
