Our room at the Presidio was clean and the bed was comfortable. We also liked that it was walking distance to the Arlington Theatre and the Mission. I did not like that the room didn’t have a coffee maker nor a Keurig. For $200++ a night I expect a simple coffee maker. And there was no coffee down in the reception room either. And there isn’t a coffee place close, you need to walk about four blocks. Even cheap motels have coffee makers. They also should invest in some modern windows instead of its louvered windows that are not safe and do nothing to insulate the noise coming from the rooftop bar at the motel across the street. I felt like the DJ was spinning in the room with me. Thank goodness it ended by 11pm but still, not a relaxing evening from when we returned to the room after dinner at 9pm. I paid more to be a few blocks closer to the Arlington Theatre area of State street but next time I’ll just walk a few blocks to the Orange Inn where the rooms are larger. And they have coffee makers.

The Presidio served its purpose for a short stay in Santa Barbara, but I would recommend arriving with realistic expectations. This is a small, basic motel rather than what many travellers might picture when they see the word “hotel.” The room was relatively clean and everything was functional, although some areas, such as the bathroom tile grout, could use more attention. The room itself is quite small and the property is very simple. On the positive side, the staff were friendly and available, and the location was convenient for getting around Santa Barbara. Overall, I would rate it about 3/5. If the price is right and you simply need a convenient place to sleep for a night or two, it does the job. Just don’t book it expecting an upscale hotel experience.

Stayed 2 nights. Used room for sleep and showers. Out exploring all day. Beds were comfortable and clean. Bathroom clean and fresh. Had a problem locking the door one day. Told front desk and maintenance replaced the doorknob quickly.

It was run down, the bed was a very hard matress along with the pillows. I slept very poor. Upon arrival the room was very hot, the wall a/c unit took hours to cool down the space. Also, all night the a/c blew directly on me laying down. If I turned it off, the room became very stuffy. Also, the room did not look like the photo at all, the picture looks renovated, our room was not modern. The location was great and felt safe. Not in walking distance though to shops and restaurants on State Street.

AFFORDABLE. LOCATIONS. Those are the two main reasons to stay here. This is a funky older motel but perfect for what we needed. We used the free beach bikes and the outside deck. Super close walk to State street establishments. Short drive or bike to pier and beach

Our room was spotless & comfortable. Our beds were really comfortable, water pressure was great, plenty of hot water, nice little refrigerator. We loved sitting out on the deck. The adorondack chairs were so comfortable. Elizabeth (the manager) was wonderful & helpful.
