"Great modern hotel on the bay! Great access to the Sado island ferry! The ferry terminal connects directly to the hotel through the convention center. There is a cafe below and a convienence store they open around 8 or 9. Also Chinese food. It’s a ways away from the main center so I don’t know how convienient it is from the train station but there is a bus 230 yen. Rooms are clean and they even upgraded us to the river view and you can see a gorgeous sunset over Sado Island. Also great if you are taking ferry to Hokkaido as the taxi station is right below."

"Highly recommend the Hotel Sunroute Niigata. It is convenient to the train station with many bars, parking options and restaurants nearby. Google translate the street parking lots if you don't use the hotel garage. Some have deals with the hotel where you pay a lower rate for overnight parking. I had great service from the hotel staff who helped me with figuring that out and saving a lot of money. We really enjoyed our visit to Niigata and Hotel Sunroute was the right place for us! "

"This is a Japanese business style hotel in Tsubamesanjo. It was very close to the train station, but also had a free parking lot. The room was small but adequate. The bathroom was very tiny. The beds were Western style but lower than normal and the mattresses were quite firm, as were the buckwheat-filled pillows. The buffet breakfast had some hot items (poached eggs, sausage, potato fritters, etc.) as well as rice and grilled fish. They make their own croissants, which were good. In all a clean safe place to stay which is close to the train station. "
