With an exclusive PH rooftop, this apartment offers a panoramic view to the historic city of Old San Juan and Ocean View. This is a great place to gather with family to enjoy what the city has to offer! You will easily join in the action and visit restaurants, bars and popular places, such as El Morro. Its modern and, yet, colonial design and structure will make you feel right at home in one of the most popular places on the island.
This beautifully renovated colonial apartment has some the best ocean views in all of Old San Juan. From its three grand balcony double doors and from the expansive (1100 square foot) roof deck, you look out over the 500 year-old San Cristobal Castle and over the city walls, onto nearly 180 degrees of blue ocean. Swing the Spanish shutters open and let the sun and ocean breeze into your bedroom in the morning. Then head up to the roof deck for coffee and a book in the shade or some lounging under the sun. In the evening it’s a great setting for eating dinner outside or just sipping a cold local beer.
The apartment itself is spacious (1100 square feet) and architecturally designed with very high ceilings and interior archways. It’s on the second floor of a bright blue colonial two-story building and takes up the entire ocean view side. It has two bedrooms - a master bedroom (with the ocean view right from your bed) and a very nice medium-sized bedroom - each with its own freshly renovated, modern ensuite bathroom with high ceilings and rain showers. The fiberoptic internet service is super-fast and reliable. The living room space, dining area and kitchen are all open, and connect to an indoor patio where the occasional afternoon rain can be heard coming down through the open air skylight. It has a great kitchen with everything you need to cook up delicious gourmet meals.
The location is super-convenient and walkable too:
• You’re right next to the San Cristobal Castle which, along with El Morro just a few blocks away, are the two oldest and best restored military fortresses in the Western hemisphere.
• There is a scenic walk along the city wall connecting the two castles, with grassy parks along the way where the locals fly kites
• Walk 10 minutes the other way and you get to a great local beach, and a little further is Condado, the more modern and trendy side of San Juan.
• There are great restaurants and bars within a few blocks of the apartment, as well as live music, great shopping, art galleries, quaint museums, and all the necessary conveniences (supermarket, pharmacy, etc).
• All of the main historic sites are within a 5 to 10-minute walk.
Some things to know about this apartment:
• It is situated in a busy downtown area so please expect some noise at night on the weekends mainly, and parking is not easy on the streets so best to use nearby parking garages.
• This is a perfect place to spend some time, reading, writing, and relaxing, but it is not a place to hold parties or invite others over besides the guests themselves. Exceptions to this may be made in some cases.
• While there is a fully functional TV with access to streaming, it is a 32-inch screen so please do not expect a huge TV (the views are much better than anything on TV anyway).
• Old San Juan occasionally experiences water and/or power outages that affect the entire area. We are one of the few properties in the area that has a back-up water reservoir on the roof that will provide access to plenty of fresh water during any period of outage. We provide flashlights and lanterns and a back-up battery system to charge small devices in case of a power outage.
• There is one flight of stairs up to the apartment and no elevator
