Excellent information and communication provided. Lovely appartment and not far to main attractions. Spiral staircase is a nice feature but beware you need to come down it in the night to use the toilet.

First time to San Diego…. My son is stationed with Navy at gate 6. The drive to pick him up and drop off in morning was a quick 10 minutes drive. This unit worked perfect for us to cook home meals and grill in back yard. We even had a fire and s’mores. We will be back! Thank you John

We were in unit 6. It was clean top to bottom. After a day or so, I began to notice the numerous examples of the owner’s attention to detail, things like having wall hooks for hanging towels or coats in convenient locations throughout and automatic lights in the closets. Very happy with this VRBO.

Overall we had a great stay. It is a lovely place. There are beautiful roses and plants. Great location with good freeway access.
John, the owner was very proactive and responsive when we had a question. Contacted us prior to and a day after arrival to ask how things were going with our stay. Two grills available for grilling meat, etc....
Only negative(s)...not much really, 1) spiral staircase was a little small and could be difficult to climb or descend. We have a handicapped daughter who did not want to sleep upstairs in the loft because she was scared to climb the staircase. 2) Loft was nice but did have some low ceilings in some places. Hit our heads a few times until we kept reminding ourselves to duck when getting in and out of bed. These are not major issues...just have to take care so while climbing up and down the stairs and getting in and out of bed. Only mention them so those booking can be aware...3) As mentioned in other reviews parking CAN be a bit challenging, especially if you get back late in the evening. None of these are major detractors and we highly recommend John's property for a stay in San Diego.
Property is close to downtown, Petco Park and the trolley stations so you can go anywhere covered by the trolley.
Again...we highly recommend and will very likely use this property for our future stays (we travel to SD once or twice a year).

We have so enjoyed our stay in Sherman Heights. This is a perfect location, we walked all over the city and felt very centrally located. We never had more than a 3 minute wait when we called for an uber and despite the homeless population of the this fine city, never felt unsafe. I would highly recommend this property and we hope to return. John is a most accommodating and thoughtful host. Be sure to hit the taco stand across the street!

Clean, well-cared for home near Gaslamp district and walking to harbor (a long walk)
Only complaints were stained carpet and a bit noisy.

We enjoyed our stay in San Diego and the Condo was in a great location for what we wanted to do. John was very helpful with information on grocery stores and the beach locations. The only thing that would have been nice is to have 2 chair in the living room so the 4 of us could have watched a movie together. 2 of us has to set on the floor. That was hard for me. We would stay there again the next time we are in San Diego and bring chairs if none are provided. The hide-a-bed was not comfortable but are they ever.
Thanks for contributing to an overall enjoyable trip.

Our family of 5 (2 adults and 3 children ages 10-16) enjoyed our stay very much. It was snug with 5 but we spent most of our time exploring the area, not in the rental. If two people don’t mind sharing a queen size sofa sleeper - two of our kids didn’t mind - it comfortably sleeps 5. John was very kind, checking in mid-stay to make sure our needs were met and offering his knowledge of the area. Our only regret was waiting until our last night to use the lighted gazebo in the back...we should have found that sooner!

The location was not bad. The house structure was unique. There were 6 rooms which the room has big loft where have a twin bed and a queen size bed. Everything nice and clean very pleased. One issue was parking. We almost never park our vehicle in front of house.
We drove circle around block couple times to find open spot for parking.

15 minute walk to gas lamp district and a 7 minute drive to Balboa park, the apartment is located in a nice neighborhood. It's clean and tidy. We stayed there 3 girls and we had a great time, the only thing is there was a bit of a funky smell (but bearable). Overall i would recommend you to stay in this property.

We were a family of 4 staying at this property. We were going to Comic Con and the best thing was that we had free parking and were walking distance to the convention center or a cheap Uber ride! Our 2 adult boys stayed in the loft while we stayed on the sofa bed which was not the comfiest. We also had most dinners at the property and unfortunately there was not a proper table to sit at. There was a small glass table but only with 2 stools. So we ended up eating picnic style in the middle of the small living room. John, however, was easy to reach. We had a small issue with the air conditioner and it was fixed right away. There is also a washing machine on site and he provided and replenished the quarters needed to run it.
The property is small and clean with great airflow in a relatively quiet area. It is perfect if wanting to explore the downtown area.

It was a great place to stay. It was a very clean and well thought out space. We had the loft room. Our kids (9,4) said it was their favorite place to stay. It was a 10 to 15 minute drive to all the major attractions. It was a 10 minute walk into the Downtown area. We enjoyed this little spot in our heaven.

We really enjoyed our stay at this cute little place. It was clean and quiet. Every day we seemed to find another surprise that would allow us to enjoy our stay including a few boogie boards, a beach chair, beach towels, a step stool to help the kids reach the sink etc. The kitchen was stocked with the essentials and a few extras if we wanted to eat in. This was our first HomeAway experience and it set the bar high. We would definitely recommend this place. It was a great location centrally located from everyplace we wanted to visit.

We recently stayed for a week with our 3 children (7,11 & 13). This property was mainly used for sleeping- there are so many things to do nearby! Coronado Island, the Zoo, Whale Watching etc. And it's just 2 hours to LA. We were comfortable and slept well. Would definitely recommend if you are looking to experience a neighborhood space with character. Can't wait to come back!

Nice and clean apartment, close to Gaslamp Quarter. Full equipped kitchen. Spiral stairs to the loft might scare people who are afraid of heights but works good for me

This property was nice and as described. The owner was friendly and helpful. I have no complaints and would consider staying here again. I would say, however, that the property just wasn't quite as nice as I expected from the pics when I checked in vs. when I booked it. You can tell it has had some wear and tear since the pics were taken. Another notable may be that the house is split up into 5 or so apartments and it looks like the garage has been converted to another living space, so just a heads up that I didn't realize until check-in. I hesitated to even leave this kind of feedback because I don't feel like I was misled, but felt other potential renters may find the feedback helpful.

We truly enjoyed the apartment. Very clean and well maintained. Comfortable beds (slept like a baby). Kitchen and bathroom stocked with everything we needed to feel at home. It was quite obvious that there is much attention spent on details for a wonderful stay.
John touched base a couple times to ensure we had everything we needed for our stay and offer any assistance to help make our stay the best it could be.
Being from Houston, TX, we took full advantage of the nice front porch to enjoy early morning coffee and evening relaxation with cool breeze and no humidity! The gardens are beautiful with lots of flowers to enjoy. The washer and dryer on the premises came in handy for us. The location was close enough and offered easy access to popular areas. But just far enough to be quiet and have less traffic. There is a great taco restaurant a couple blocks for great breakfast burritos and late night taco snack. There is a small Catholic church just around the corner. A grocery store a few blocks away. Oh and finally, a great place to catch Pokémon with a stop and a gym each with in a block of the house.
Our stay was wonderful, I will highly recommend it to friends traveling to San Diego!
