Excellent staff. Gave a much needed late checkout. WIFI was very good. Large well maintained swimming pool and surrounding garden. Satisfying breakfast and dinner.
My family and I had a wonderful stay at the Samarkand Movenpick. Beautiful, modern and clean hotel. Super friendly and helpful staff. To our surprise we got a free upgrade to the apartment/suite room. A enormous apartment including kitchen, two bedrooms, living room etc. The hotel is walking distance away from restaurants and interesting site seeings. Thank you Movenpick for a wonderful stay
This hotel is well located, walking distance to the major historical sites, very clean, very modern, very quiet close to Registan Boulevard with all the greenery and parks. Rooms are larges with all the conveniency. Very good internet speed. Excellent Choice.
Very nice and clean hotel with excellent service. Our room was spectacular. My husband got sick during the trip and the hotel allowed us to stay 2 hour longer before going to the railway station. The hotel staff also checked us in earlier without charging early check-in fees. Very friendly and accommodating. We certainly will be back next year. Excellent hotel, highly recommended.
Wonderful hotel and well maintained. Great breakfast selection. I had dinner at the restaurant which was delicious. The bar was a must after a long day in the heat and very relaxing being there.
Only negative would be the hotel room temperature, which was set to 24 degrees throughout the hotel in June. They did try to reset the room air con to blow out cooler air for the 24 degrees but this didn't work and i had some sleepless nights waking up in the heat. I was very surprised that you cannot set your own room temperature as it was 34+ degrees outside and the last thing you want is a hot room. I was simply adviced to close my curtains throughout the day. I wouldn't return for this reason, despite the hotel being amazing.
Facilities were great - nice pools. Hotel is newly fit out and very clean.
Room was very small - smaller than you’d expect in nyc or London. Two adults with suitcases and we had no floor space left at all…
Service wasn’t great - we asked for help booking a guide and every day we went to reception and they hadn’t managed to find someone or had forgotten. They tried to charge us extra on check out (we pre paid for our room and paid city tax on check in). Bar service and selection was poor considering the level of hotel, and it was easily 3 x the cost of any other bar in the city.
Overall a nice enough stay but not the usual movenpick standard…
Everything about this hotel was absolutely fantastic. And that’s coming from a person who actually had a hiccup at the hotel. I tried ordering room service via the TV since I arrived late & most of the restaurants were already closed or closing but my food never came. I called the front desk but I guess the receptionist never relayed the message about my food because some of the hotel team showed up at my room door. I explained to them that I was waiting for my food. 20 mins later, another staff member showed up with a menu & stated he was going to ask the chef if he can whip something up. 20 mins after that (already midnight), he comes back explaining that the kitchen closes at 11. Mind you, my original order was placed around 10:20-10:30. I was a bit upset & yes, maybe a should shave a star off but the night manager showed up again, sincerely apologized & gave me a bowl of fruit to hold me over until the morning. Other than that, the hotel is absolutely fantastic - great customer service, beautiful decor & great fitness facility. This still made it to my top 5 hotels list (and mind you, I travel a lot).
In April I booked our room for October, asking for a bathtub. The hotel confirmed that they would provide it as I booked so much in advance. When we arrived we got a room with a shower so I asked for a change, showing the confirmation I received. The receptionist did what he could but I was told that the hotel was fully booked therefore the change would be possible only from the following day. I wasn’t offered any compensation, not even a cup of tea, which would be a nice gesture.
The hotel is clean and well maintained but the cleaning ladies didn’t check if the amenities were really there, I got only empty carton boxes of toothbrushes and combs. The breakfast was ok and with a lot of choices but the coffee was disgusting. My personal highlight was the soap and shampoo - I got addicted to the beautiful smell and I was sad that I couldn’t take a bit of it home. We also used the room service, it arrived quite quickly and the pasta was approved by my picky-eater-child. Minus point: no menu in the room, on TV there was a possibility to “book” very few dishes but this order never went through so it was some kind of fake.
Since the rooms have the doors facing the huge hotel lobby where some Russian-speakers partied until late at night, it was hard to rest.
Overall it is not a bad hotel and it may become even better if the management takes care of the minor things that I mentioned and that might be annoying if someone books a luxury class hotel and expects luxury class service.
Nice big hotel with Western standard. Good location. Just 10 min walk from Registan. The breakfast is really nice, good service. Also at the pool. Very good bed, shower and nice rooms. The gym is also good for a hotel.
Everything was good except the fact that the swimming pool was accessible to non hotel customers and in one occasion it was dominated by a group of 20+ local that displayed all kind of nuisance including childish water playing, scratching their balls in disgusting ways plus videoing and taking pictures of all of us and share it on social media showing how amazing their lives is. The funny thing, i reported to the reception that people from outside are walking into the swimming pool area and using all its facilities, and they denied it.
