The Saint-Valery marina has 250 mooring points.
Anecdote: On September 27, 1066, the Norman Duke William the Conqueror departed from Saint-Valery with his invasion fleet - some 700 ships - to the coast of Pevensey, near the town of Hastings in England. Initially he had departed from the Dives estuary in Normandy. But due to autumn storms on the Channel, he had to return to the Somme estuary and wait for better weather.
On October 14 he defeated the Anglo-Saxon King Harold II during the Battle of Hastings and on December 25, he was crowned King of England at Westminster Abbey.
